Business Studies AS/A2 Level (H030 and H430) Examination Board: OCR Aims of Course To encourage candidates to develop 1 Investigation skills 1 Identify business problems 1 Plan appropriate investigations into such problems 1 Promote a holistic understanding of business and enterprise 1 Justify decisions using both qualitative and quantitative methods, taking into account opportunity cost.
Programme of Study at AS Level and A2 Level Advanced Subsidiary GCE Consists of two mandatory units externally assessed and forms 50% of the overall A Level F291: An Introduction to Business 40% AS 20% A Level Considers way in which businesses operate and effect of external business environment, with emphasis on strategic importance of clear short-term and long-term objectives. F292: Business Functions 60% AS 30% A Level Recognises interrelationships between the four main behavioural functions of business and for an organisation to be a success, decisions have to be taken in context to the organisation’s wider objectives and its resources. Advanced GCE A2 builds upon AS and consists of two mandatory AS units F297: Strategic Management 60% A2 30% A Level Compulsory unit where the unifying theme is choosing and justifying strategy and as such candidates are expected to demonstrate an analytical and evaluative approach to the unit content of AS and must also draw upon one of the A2 optional units. F293: Marketing 40% A2 20% A Level Develops critical awareness of the theories, concepts and decision-making tools, and uses marketing information in relation to aspects of organisational structure and activity and the environment within which marketing activity takes place.

Minimum entry requirement is grade B in English Language at GCSE and grade B in Maths at GCSE.
