Subject Choices: The school welcomes applications from students who will achieve 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C in discrete subjects (for example, an ICT GNVQ or qualifications in related subjects such as English Literature and English Language will count as one grade only towards the 5 A* - C) including a C or above on both English Language and Maths. However, students are expected to achieve a grade A or B in those GCSE subjects which they wish to take on to Advanced Level. In exceptional circumstances, the application of the above criteria is at the Head of Sixth Form’s discretion. The following factors are used when assessing whether criteria for entry into the sixth form have been met: 1 Evidence of sustained and committed approach to study throughout Key Stage 4. 1 Academic Profile to date. 1 Predicted GCSE results. 1 Quality of the student’s Progess File. 1 Pastoral and academic staff recommendations. 1 Attendance/Punctuality record. 1 Performance at interview. At Woodlands School students are expected to study at least four AS subjects (or equivalent). Most students will drop one of their AS subjects in Year 13 and take three subjects at A2 Level. Year 12
