stationary range

Stationery Range Board 1/5

Looking at existing Tigerprints briefs and an exploration of surface pattern design to design and create a stationary range, considering how a design can be applied across a range of products and packaging. Print processes and techniques onto different materials and stocks was an important consideration in this brief. The range was based on Indian pattern design, it was was adapted for each of the products and for the packaging by changing the colours and patterns used. The product range has been proposed to be sell instore and online in the stationery chain Paperchase if it were to be sold in the real world. The curent Tigerprint competition brief is not relevant to the designs that I have produced during this brief but the pattern designs should hopefully be entered into a future Tigerprint competition brief.

The stationery range was based on research instores and online on the different types of stationery is sold, there could of been endless products that could of been produced and for FMP the rage will be expanded. 1 The wooden pencils would have the patterned printed onto them, for the brief they have been propsed and the pattern has been printed onto acetate and put around the pencils, the colour of the pencils make up the background of the pattern design. 2 The plastic pencil case would have the pattern printed on the outside of both sides with PAD printing.

3 The rubber has a card sleeve around it with the patterned printed on to it and the sharpner and ruler have the design printed onto transfer paper and applied to the products. The sharpner and the rubber would be sold as a set. 4 This is how the stationery raneg works as a set, how the colour scheme and patterns are consistent throughout the range. This is also a proposal of how the stationary range could be sold and used as a set a swell as being sold as individual items.

1 These are A4 plastic folders, these would be PAD printed like the pencil cases. The pattern is only printed on the front of the folders and they would be sold in packs of 5, with each one having variations in colour. 2 This is one of the notebooks that would be avaliable in the range, they would come in a range of sizes from A6 to A4 with ruled and plain pages inside. Like the plastic folders they would come in a range of colours. 3 The writing set is printed on recyled paper which is something that would be considered across the whole range if it was devloped futher. The writing paper is A5 with a C6 envelope with the design digitally printed, the set would come with 10 pages and 10 envelopes.

The packaging for the stationery uses the same patterns that have been used on the stationery itself but been printed onto a different stock. There would also be a product where you could buy the whole range as a set as well as like this in its individual packaging. The packaging has been kept simple, all the products are sold in cellophane bags with individual price labels which have been digitally printed onto sticker paper. The brown paper labels are across the range and are part of the inside of the packaging whilst the stickers are stuck to the outsides of the cellophane.

This is the proposed method of distribution for the stationary range, the range is proposed to be sold at Paperchase, in their stores and online. The range would be sold as individual products but could also be sold as part of sets or one overall gift set. The range still has more devlopment to go and there are still many more products that could be designed such as diaries, boxes, tins, mugs, bookmarks, pens etc. this is somthing that will be looked at in future detail in the FMP. There are also printing methods that would be used on some of the materials such as the plastics and possibly metal if the range was taken forward, such as PAD printing, also lazer cutting could be something to look into.
