In Elsa's eyes, fashion design is not a profession, but an art. She worked with many artists to create "Schiaparelli". It was a time when art was nourished by shared friendships, social ties, and a shared desire to break with tradition and the status quo. Together with a group of artists, Elsa constructed the House of Schiaparelli. Man Ray focus on photography and recorded many classical styles for Schiaparelli. George Hoyningen Huene, Horst p and Cecil Beaton also do the same thing. The cooperation between Salvador and Schiaparelli began with the Telephone Dial Powder Compact (1935). Their first fashion collaboration followed in 1936, and the product of this collaboration, the Schiaparelli Bureau-drawer Suit, was published by Cecil Beaton in the surrealist section of Vogue 1936, thus establishing the tonality of Schiapareli. Besides fashion, Salvado also designed perfume bottles and posters for Schiaparelli. He created the perfume bottle "LE ROY SOLEIL" in 1947 as a tribute to Louis XIV. However, Salvado was not the first to design a perfume bottle for Schiaparelli. As early as 1934, Jean-Michel FRANK made bottles for Schiaparelli's first perfume collection. Jean-Michel Frank did much more for her than that. Starting in 1928, he worked on personal projects for her, including decorating her first boutique on Rue de la Paix.
Schiaparelli's art scene is much more than that. In addition to products, many artists have contributed a lot to the promotion of the brand. The painter Christian Bérard admired by Schiaparelli has been drawing fashion illustrations for her showroom since 1938, and they have collaborated countless times. cover the official art exhibition to celebrate the launch of the 2022 Haute Couture collection. This exhibition displays the official archive pieces that Elsa Schiaparelli made in collaboration with famous artists such as Man Ray, Jean Cocteau and fo course Salvador Dali and their lonf friendship in the name of the shared surrealist vision to represent the world. As Schiaparelli opens its doors to it’s first ever art exhibition, everyone is welcome to see it after the release of the 2022 Haute Couture collection.
