TOUCHING INFRASTRUCTURES
My brief was to design a device at 1:1, using recycled materials, from which Big Issue Sellers could safely store and sell their produce, store personal belongings and access shelter and power. At the core of my design is the idea of the building blocks of peoples lives’, wanting to provide all members of society with shelter. Anti-homeless devices served as the catalyst for my device, being used nowadays to prevent the homeless from sheltering in certain places. I wanted to combat this form of ‘hostile architecture’, with a device that could encourage the homeless back into society. The -To -To -To -To
project objectives were as follows: discourage prejudice in communities challenge misconseptions provide shelter for the homeless reawaken an underused infrastructure

THE BUILDING BLOCKS
Developing the scenario from the previous project, I designed The Building Blocks public use workshop. The building runs on a asocial agenda becoming a hub for creativity and community, spanning the existing infrastructure of the A40 Westway in London.
The project objectives were as follows: -To provide workshop facilities for all members of the community. -To provide accomodation and studio space for start-up businesses. -To respond to the confluence of infrastructures (rail, road and canal).
