Thisdescriptivestudyaimedtoidentifythecommunicationtoolsusedandthedifficultiesencounteredbythe DisasterRiskReductionandManagement(DRRM)frontlinersinIloiloprovince.Specifically,thisstudyaimedat reportingthetopcommunicationtoolsusedbyDRRMfrontlinersinIloiloinpromotingDRRMinitiatives,how thesecommunicationtoolsrankedwhenclassifiedaccordingtoprint,communicationtools,socialmedia communicationtools,interpersonalcommunicationtoolsandbroadcastcommunicationtools,whatarethe communicationtoolsusedbyDRRMfrontlinerswhenclassifiedaccordingtodistrict,whatarethedifficulties encounteredbytheDRRMfrontlinersinpromotingDRRMinitiatives.Itemployed225DRRMfrontlinersfrom7 municipalitiesasparticipants.ThestudywasconductedonOctober2016.Anadaptedquestionnaire-checklistby BabeandTugublimas(2014)wasutilizedtodeterminethecommunicationtools,meanwhileavalidated questionnairechecklisttodeterminethedifficultiesencounteredwaslikewiseutilized.FrequencyandRank werethestatisticaltoolsused.ThefindingsofthestudyshowedthatcommunicationtoolsusedbyDRRM frontlinersinIloiloareFacebook,personalconversation,textmessage,meetings,leaflets,radiopublicservice announcement,streamers,sendinginvitations,telephoneconversation,recurida.Whenclassifiedaccordingto printcommunicationtools,DRRMfrontlinersusedleaflets,streamers,bulletin,flyers,brochures.When classifiedaccordingtosocialmediacommunicationtools,DRRMfrontlinersusedfacebook,twitter,youtube websitehosting,videostreaming.Whenclassifiedaccordingtointerpersonalcommunicationtools,DRRM frontlinersusedpersonalconversation,textmessage,meetings,sendinginvitations,telephoneconversations. Whenclassifiedaccordingtobroadcastcommunicationtools,DRRMfrontlinersusedradiopublicservice announcement,recurida,tvpublicserviceannouncement,radioadvertisement,tvadvertisement.When classifiedaccordingtodistrict,MIGEDCdistrictusedfacebook,personalconversation,meetings,flyers,radio publicserviceannouncement.SouthernIloilodistrictusedtextmessage,meetings,facebook,personal conversation,pamphlets.NorthernIloilodistrictusedfacebook,personalconversation,textmessage,meetings, radiopublicserviceannouncement.ThedifficultiesencounteredbyDRRMfrontlinersinIloiloinpromotingDRRM initiativesarewhenpeoplesaidyesbutdonotcomeonthesetmeetingdateandtime,whenthenoticeforthe conductoftheactivityisgiveninshortperiodoftime,whenIhavetodohouse-to-housevisitstoinformthe residents,whenBarangayofficialsarenotcooperating,whenthereisnoenoughmaterialsforrescue operations,whenthereisnoavailableornotenoughchairsfortheparticipantsintheactivity,whenthereisno availablevehicleforrescueandinformationdisseminations whenthereisnoprintedmaterialsavailable.In conclusion,DRRMfrontlinersutilizesvariousformsofcommunicationtoolsforinformationdissemination. Whenclassifiesaccordingtoprint,socialmedia,interpersonal,andbroadcastmedia,leaflet,facebook,personal conversation,radiopublicannouncementarethemostutilized,respectively.Districtsutilizedalmostthesame communicationtools,onlyvariesinranking.DRRMfrontlinersfacedvariousdifficultiesinpromotingDRRM initiatives.

PASTE-TO-FACE-IT:ANANALYSISOFA

CommunityAssessmentisarequirementbeforetheconceptionofadevelopmentprojector intervention.Indoingit,isthechoiceonwhatassessmenttoolstousetocapturethereal situationandneedsofthecommunity. ThisstudyaimstoevaluatethePaste-to-Face-It,aneedsassessmenttool.Specifically,this studysoughttodescribethedatageneratedthroughthePaste-to-Face-Itneedsassessment tool,toanalyzethedatagenerated,andcomparethedatageneratedbasedontheexpected datatobegatheredbytheresearchers.Themethodsusedinthisstudywerebrainstormingof theresearchersandreviewofthedocumentsgeneratedwhenthetoolPaste-to-Face-Itwas usedinthecommunitiesinDingle,IloiloandMVHechanovaJaro,IloiloCity,Philippines. ResultsofthestudyshowedthatthedatageneratedbythePaste-to-Face-Itneeds assessmenttoolwererichandrealistic.Theparticipantsbasedtheiranswersontheirpersonal experienceswhichmadetheiranswersmorecandidandauthentic.Thedatageneratedbythe Paste-to-Face-Ittoolweremorethanwhattheresearchersexpectedpriortotheiractivity. ThePaste-to-Face-Itneedsassessmenttoolwasutilizedtwice,onceinaneedsassessment amongSeniorHighSchoolStudentsandanotherneedsassessmentactivityamongGrade7 students.Thetoolstillproducedauthentic,richinformation.Inconclusion,thePaste-to-FaceItneedsassessmenttoolisareliableinstrumentthatcanbeusedtogatherrich,authentic data. Furthermore,thePaste-to-Face-Ittoolalsoprovidedprobablesolutionstoresolveproblems encounteredduringrainyseason.ThestudyrecommendsthatthePaste-to-Face-It assessmenttoolbefurthertestedinothercontextorparticipantstogeneratemoredataand understandandappreciateitsusefulness.
