HOTEL ON THE RUINS 01.2014 _ 06.2014
The project develops within Blenio valley and aims to enhance and restore the existing ruins of the Serravalle Castle. The theme of the project is a guest quarter considered as a point of reference for all the visitors of the castles in the area. The project is in a continuous and direct relationship with the castle, in an attempt to recreate the ancient atmosphere and distribution. After a careful and thorough study of the original structure, I recreated its volume, this time conceiving it not as solid, but as void. In this way, the project is divided into two completely separate situations: the lower section devoted to recall the memory of the ancient castle of the origin and the top - a sort of inhabited roof - that contains an extensive library focused on the hist ory of the castles in Ticino.

The theme of the market in Barcelona is a very popular subject and consequently has already been studied a lot, so my first impulse was to analyze the markets already built in the city. The scheme of construction of Barcelona master plan has been the guideline for the construction of this building. The project is located in the metro station in the Ensance of Cerdà, proposing the extreme corners of the block, qualifying the identity dell’Ensance. Starting from this limit I simply extended the angles as far as the intersection of them, creating two arms that house the main functions of the market, a large square in front, and a large green space behind the market to detach from the residential complex behind it. The arch on the facade reproduces the structural form of the whole building.

the planning of the housing complex, I was inspired to existing examples in Bucharest, which show a clear division between the public and private sectors. The project is located in the East city center of Bucharest, and its aim is the upgrading of the entire ancient area in question, very degraded at the time. The first step was the definition of a master plan, which could open the new district to the main streets and at the same time revive the old core of the ancient center. The island chosen for the settlement of the meditating pavilion is located on the estuary of the River Tagus. A meditative space is an architectural project very difficult to think of because of the freedom that you have, linked to its function. My first thought went to the feeling I had in the Blue Grotto the first time I came inside it; I am from Capri and it is obvious I drew on my memories to find the meditative atmosphere of such a natural place where the light comes from the water reflecting blue shadows all around. So I tried to design a place inspired by it, creating a form you can define organic.
