INDEN II OPEN CAST MINE (2013)
The German Federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is an important mining region that extracts lignite and uses it as a fuel for steam-electric power generation. The long-term planning of the open-pit mines. expects the extraction to be pursued for the next 15-20 years. Unavoidably, those activities will leave behind huge craters interrupting the agricultural landscape of the region. For this reason, the power company RWE Power, which manages the extraction and processing of lignite, is obliged to reclaim the areas at the end of mining. The minig area of Inden II will terminate the extraction process in 2030. The reclamation plan involves the construction of an artificial lake 1200 acres wide, which will represent a new landscape and a recreational attraction for the region.

2040
The project presents a series of scenarios that seek to respond to the needs of the recovery plan developed by the RWE Power, in collaboration with the municipalities of the region. The proposed measures seek to make accessible and usable this new changing artificial landscape, even during the intermediate stages of its implementation.

A bright landmark indicates the place where the village of Pier was located before beign erased by the mining process, and it also marks the final level of the lake. Then a 14 km cycling route connects the works related to the final settlement of the banks, such as panoramic piers, lakeside promenades, beach facilities, a natural area, the terraces corresponding to the urban centers and other tourist facilities and accommodation.
The tourist-information center “Tagebau Inden II represents the centerpiece of the activities related to the park. It has an important educational function and it promotes the memory of the mining past of the lake. Therefore it has been located on an island with a panoramic view on the lake.

CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM LOCATION:
MILANO PROGRAM:
EXHIBITIONS 1400 MQ PERMANENT COLLECTIONS 1500 MQ TEMPORARY COLLECTIONS SERVICES OFFICES, CONFERENCE ROOM, HALL, CAFETERIA, BOOKSHOP LABORATORIES, ARCHIEVE-DEPOTS
The new Museum of Contemporary Art is located in Porta Volta, over the old Spanish Wall. The volume of the building, almost a cube, is coerent with the height of the context and permits a vertical internal distribution that develops through the services block, on its backside.
The exhibitions path is vertical: it starts at the 5th floor where are located two of the permanent collections Panza di Biumo’s Schwartz’s. In the fourth floor there is the third permanent collection dedicated to Fontana’s
The landscape design permits the passage through the plot from the surrounding streets, creating a city park defined by architectural elements, and leads to the entrance of the Museum with a long ramp.

“Rosarno suddenly became known to the international press for a riot of African immigrant workers in January, 7-8, 2010. Starting from this chronicle fact we would like to focus on Rosarno case study, as paradigm of an economy held by vested interests, that force immigrants to wage and housing slavery conditions, with a strongly social twist on the local urban tissue. These events exposed the existence of a complex social situation in Rosarno.
The goal of the project will be to re-think the whole territory and to develop an idea of a new possible city starting from a reorganization of agricultural production and from a critical reading of the extensive, but sometimes illogical, existing infrastructural network. “ Stefano Boeri, Pierpaolo Tamburelli, Isabella Inti Townplanning Studio Professors
Re (Returnable empties) is an association of social promotion that manages the reuse strategies for the empty spaces in the urban context of Rosarno. In the case of unfinished building with unused floors, the association acts as an intermediary between the houseowner and the immigrant and provides materials for the construction of temporary housing solutions for seasonal workers or materials and technical support for the renovation of apartment blocks, which may then be long-term housing solutions.

RE-USE STRATEGIES
To create new gathering places and integration “Re” reuse unfinished roofs of buildings as temporary public spaces for cultural and musical events. The former paper factory in the suburbs of Rosarno “Cartiera” hosts the administrative center of the Association and the warehouses for the costructive materials’ storage for reuse.

CORBETTA (Milano) CYCLEPATH CIRCUIT
IN THE WESTERN COUNTRYSIDE OF MILAN CLOSE TO THE
EXPO AREA LENGHT: 15 KM
Considering the Corbetta’s country land as a green ocean is a way to represent the uniformity of the landscape, and to threat it like a huge water expanse, that can be cross and perceived for its natural quality and environmental value. The three small urban centers of Castellazzo, Soriano and Cerello-Battuello have no direct relationship with the landscape around them: their boarders are clean and indented. They’re like little islands in the middle of the sea.

The goal of the project is to create a dialog between these residential areas and the surrounding rural landscape, providing services that are meant both for resident population and for users attracted by let circuits during and after Expo 2015. Those designed areas are structured like piers that cross transversely the cycle path and connect two poles with a secondary path, along which are fitted all the services and the attractive areas.
The design of the piers aims to stress the value of the surrounding landscape, creating atmospheres that are already present into the green ocean, but can’t be lived yet.

FASHION EXPO PAVILION LOCATION:
FIRENZE PLOT:
2830 M2 PROGRAM:
COMMERCIAL FLOOR SHOWROOM WINE BAR
The commitence, Moschino, inspires the project with the reference of the parfume’s bottle, while the main theme of the concept comes from the survey of the leaves’ different kind of patterns, determinated by the mathematical concept of “Voronoi diagram”. Those patterns are redrawned with the plugin for Rhinoceros “Pointset recon- straction tool”, and are used to design and charachterize the different areas and functions.
The pavilion develops on three levels related to three different uses. The level 0 is the roofgarden, the public landscape project outside of the pavilion. Inside the level 0 is intended to the commercial use, while in the level-1 are located the exibition spaces (with the catwalk) and the wine bar.
