“MAN, LAND, FOOD”, or better said, “LAND, MAN, FOOD”, are three significant words having one verb in common: to eat. “Land” is the place of the production of food, “Man” is the subject that eat, and “food is the raw material. Since old times “eating” is an opportunity to get together, so people just do not only eat, but also be together and do something social. Throughout history there are a lot of artistic examples on this theme, and we can notice that the common element between all is the table. Thinking about what has been, what is now and what can be, we come back at the primitive meaning of this element, that is not an element whit some specific shapes, but is a place where there are common things, and common people together. In this sense “Land” is our table. The project fits in a rural territory, more specifically in the Esino’s Valley, near Ancona. It’s a huge concrete plate that connect the two river banks. The plate, one kilometre long, is divided in four functional zones, and it’s characterized by ramps and holes for vegetation; in the zone near the railway there are greenhouses for specific agriculture and for educational workshops; the central zone is the public square where to get people together, and also to enjoy the landscape. The project, finally, become an Adriatic Agriculture Museum: an hybrid space where to relate, face, meet and observe.

The sixties are, for architectural research in Italy, a period characterized by a will in renovating the style and his contents; a new will in which neo-avantguardies are really important for the society. Names like Yona Friedman, Archizoom, Cedric Price, Bruno Munari, Ettore Sottsass, Superstudio are just some of the protagonists of this period in which was born the term “Radical Architecture”. “La Casa Sperimentale” is an exhibition about the homonymous house of Giuseppe Perugini, located in Fregene, a town near Rome. The house is shown as a contrast between inside and outside spaces, between his brutalist way to be and the familiar dimension, as the designer’s point of view. Projected at the end of the sixties from Giuseppe Perugini, Raynaldo Perugini and Uga Da plaisant idea, is a sperimental project both for his futuristic shapes and for the materials that remind us Brutalist Architecture. The project represent all the Perugini’s intentions: “Being all of us architects it was the toy of the family, in which each of us used to put ideas and solutions […]” The exhibition project is based on the contraposition between utopia and dystopia: “La Casa Sperimentale”, fallen down in the project area, is completely decontestualized to the point of exploding, making his parts available for the exhibition project.

restanque city project

“No man’s Land” is an urban requalification project of a no man’s land, contaminated by a sense of fellowship, and by an ephemeral context. The project area is a sample of the Adriatic city: the infrastructure goes parallel to the coast, while, the landscape that goes perpendicular to the sea, create tension point whit the infrastructure. The project is a tourist accommodation for people who are looking for something different: a tourism that don’t want only relax, beautiful places, beaches, and attractions, but a experience-based tourism. The program of the project concern the agriculture activities, in fact houses units that are in the agriculture area are for this kind of activity. The central part between the railway and the street is thought as an urban space, in fact is characterized by a density of houses, aggregated togheter, and alternated whit urban gardens. The finally part is street related to the sea, and the main experience-based activity is fishing in all its forms.

“Snap” is a project for a new University after the earthquake in Camerino city. The concept of the project comes from the effect of the earthquake that hurted the city and created leaks, conceived as overlapped broken lines. Each volume has its own function like halls, classrooms, workshop rooms and services; they are south-facing to the valley, and crossed by a monumental staircase from which people can enjoy the landscape. The project has been investigated on a structural point of view: the entire structure is in steel, beams and pillars. The three volumes are wrapped by micropored panels to hide the brutality of the structure and make volumes lightly.

The project area is characterized by some historic important elements. It is in Rome, precisely at the intersection between Viale ostiense and Via delle cave Ardeatine; here there is Porta San Paolo, and Caio Cestio pyramid. It is a zone full of fluxes: traffic flux, bus flux, people flux..in short a dynamic area. The most ancient element are certainly the Roman Aurelian Walls, built between 270 and 275 by emperor Aureliano. The aim of the project born from some reflection after the inspection in this area. The current situation when you exit the Ostiense station is that staying completely immersed in the traffic, between noise and pollution, you can’t see the important elements of this area; Porta San Paolo and Caio Cestio pyramid take second place. For these reasons “Tenso wall” has the aim of giving a value back to this monuments: when you exit the station you can walk through some vegetation that takes you to some specific points where to admire the historic landscape, and to be inspired from them.

restanque city project

Resize it! Is an urban riqualification project for Civitanova marche’s square. Recently the city saw his image changed, in fact a part of an old building has been shotted down, and now the connection between the square and the sea in restored. To project this city band the project takes as its starting point the Adriatic land: 100 kilometers from Camerino to civitanova Marche reintroduced in the 100 meters of the project, alternating mountain landscape whit hilly zones and with urban gardens. Starting from the town hall the entire area is characterized by expo zones, commercial zones, and playgrounds.

restanque city project

Restanque City Project has an aim to defining in Carnolès a green space open to everyone ; a square that is the new heart of the city which, now, doesn ‘t have a well defined center. In our opinion, the value of this area is the emptyness : this residual space, that contrasts with the city density, forms an apparently anonymou space, which has actually a strong potential, keeping as well his historical heritage. Tourism is the starting point to rethink this empty space as a new public space, usable by tourists and inhabitants as well, during the whole year. The project takes advantages of the site morphology and an element from the local tradition : the Restanque, to create services, repurposing the site with redefining the shape of the slope in order to make it crossable. The site is strongly connected to the city center, the street going to the beach and the station, which is redesigned and intented as an exchanging point between trains, buses, cars, and bycicles. The fil rouge of the entire project is the local vegetation that existed before the military basis and which will be incrased by introducing a new local vegetation. For the future of Cap Martin we imagine the Restanque City Project as a green space for everyone.

What’s architecture for me? Starting from Leon Battista Alberti definition of the continuous and homogeneous space, we can say that Architecture has the task of interrupting this continuity, in fact architecture history is the tale of how continuous breakages of the Albertinian space have occurred. Space is defined has the relation between emptiness and fullness, and fullness doesn’t mean absence, in fact the interesting aspect on which investigate is the habitability of the emptiness.
