An empty page, specifically designed for the never present Félix González-Torres. A name that vanishes behind his oeuvre’s “permanent change”.

Gabriele Di MaƩeo, for this issue of E il topo devoted to the concept of Ɵme-as-magazine, requested a private picture/portrait of Félix González-Torres.

Our request was turned down. We were told that it was an essenƟal part of the arƟst’s statement not to allow any photograph of himself to be reproduced.

This prohibiƟon is conceptually related to the idea that the image of the arƟst places him in a determined Ɵme frame, while the intenƟon of Félix González-Torres is just the opposite: that of the perpetuaƟon of Ɵmelessness.

Also, the personal image of the arƟst would create an aura that wouldn’t allow the work to stand and live on its own as the only legacy to be leŌ behind.

We were also told that González-Torres, even went so far as to limit the number of interviews he gave, and chose to avoid the describing or talking about the meaning of his work, preferring to speak about general conceptual ideas.
