"On August 8, 1970 CIOFF ÂŽ was created in CONFOLENS (France) by its founder Henri Coursaget with two objectives: 1.

To strengthen the ties between various European Festivals and to open the possibility for the Folklore groups from far away countries to go on tour.

2.

To encourage cultural exchanges and through them to promote a growing spirit of friendship and PEACE.

CIOFF® Youth Movement The participation of young people in the various capacities of CIOFF® is constantly increasing. Since the start of CIOFF® Youth Movement, the Youth Coordinating Committee’s aimed to develop programmes and activities specially adapted to the needs of the Youth. The Youth Movement is an integral part of CIOFF®, which provides valuable contribution to the organization's work in the field of Intangible Heritage, it is part of CIOFF® vision for the future, and it represents CIOFF® new generation which guarantees sustainability of the organisation. Today, CIOFF® Youth is developing international programs of Safeguarding of Traditional Games, Traditional Trades, Myths and Legends and publishes an Annual Magazine entitled "Playing Together".


CIOFF® Festivals

• Over 320 International Folklore Festivals including International Children's Folklore Festivals. • The number of the Festivals is growing each year, with some of the oldest CIOFF® Festivals running for over 50 years. • Over 15 000 performances per year Worldwide.


CIOFF® World Folkloriada • Since 1996 Folkloriada is the Flagship event of CIOFF®. • Like the Olympic Games, Folkloriada is a celebration event held every four years, bringing together over 2000 performers representing over 70 cultures from all over the world. • Hundreds press articles, TV and radio broadcasts as well as major TV programmes and thousands of websites feature CIOFF® World Folkloriada events.

CIOFF® is accredited to provide advisory service to the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee of the Convention for the safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage

CIOFF® Festival in UNESCO Headquarter • Since 2014 CIOFF® is organizing this International Festival in UNESCO under the Patronage of the General Director of UNESCO • A large number of UNESCO delegations through Ambassadors, staff are present in each festival and are really appreciating the show given by 8 international folk groups from all over the world • This CIOFF® Festival is a meeting place for a Culture of Peace
