Strong Husker training sessions

Olympic Lifting seminar

Prepare for the Strong Husker Competition in February! Offered twice a week, these sessions will focus on power, strength, endurance and dexterity. Students will experience and perform basic progressions & techniques used in Strongman events to ready themselves for the Strong Husker competition.

Olympic-style weightlifting tests virtually all of the muscles in an athlete’s body–more muscles than any other single sport. Olympic lifting requires strength, flexibility, speed, and coordination—all the same characteristics of great athletes. See an improvement in your speed, agility, strength, and power. Participants will learn the basic progressions of various Olympic lifts (the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk).

Events include: • Medley: Prowler Push & Farmer’s Walk • Tire Flip • Atlas Stones It is suggested that participants attend all training sessions prior to the competition to prepare and adapt for the stresses associated with the competition. Events will be broken into several weight classes. Each session limited to 20 people. Please register for sessions online at crec.unl.edu or visit the Member Services Desk. Husker Kids™ Grades 2–6 A recreational day camp for children entering 2nd to 6th grades . We offer fun recreational, sport and lifetime activities throughout eight sessions. Our goal is to provide a supportive and enjoyable environment where learning and fun can go hand in hand. Specific sport instruction is not a goal of the camp. Special attention is paid to the age and skill level of each camper. Children entering 2nd to 6th grade are eligible for enrollment. A variety of recreational sports and leisure activities are offered each session. The camp activities are very similar to those found in a physical education class. Campers are assigned to groups according to their grade level. We encourage participation in all activities and spend the majority of time outdoors. FIELD TRIPS - A field trip will be planned for every session. THEME DAYS - Campers will participate in one special event activity each session. CRAFTS - Each session will include a make and take age-appropriate craft.
