Cover Letter August 15, 2019 I am a Brazilian urban designer/ transport planner, holding a Master's degree in Transport Engineering and Urban Planning. I am currently attending a specialised master’s in Spatial Planning at Radboud University/ Nijmegen. While studying for my Bachelor´s degree in Architecture and Urbanism (5 years) at Federal University of Ceará (UFC), I had the opportunity to be in contact with issues related to urban design and planning from a human point of view, regarding to the social and environmental impacts of design through qualitative and subjective methodologies. By the end my graduation I developed a particular interest in urban mobility and transport systems. After graduating, I undertook a Master's degree program in Transport Engineering (2 years) also at UFC. Along the latter, I developed skills related to transport modelling, simulation, parameter calibration and validation, spatial analysis, road safety, multi criteria analysis, among other topics. Apart from my studies, I have 2 years of experience leading projects in a planning firm called Certare Engineering & Consultancy. Some of my main attributions were: design and interpret travel surveys, use statistics to analyse and model travel and crash data, write clear reports to present options and recommendations to clients from private and public sectors, improve the design of road network segments and intersections for safety, evaluate the benefits and costs of different strategies, among others. Some of the most interesting projects I had the chance to get involved with in the past 2 years were: - A prioritization plan for concrete pavement improvements at a BRT corridor of Belém (Brazil) - The identification and treatment of critical highway segments (Ceará, Brazil); - The economic appraisal of transport planning projects to be executed in Timon (Brazil); - The suitability study for a potential “Pedestrian Only Area” in downtown Sobral (Brazil); - The improvement of road safety and operation of several streets and intersections of downtown Sobral (Brazil) through simulation and design (geometry and street signing); - The design of a footbridge in Sobral (Brazil); - The development of a tourist signing plan for the city of Sobral (Brazil); - The development of a priorization plan for road improvements through the analysis of pavement conditions in Sobral (Brazil); - The valuation of public land for several brazilian municipalities; - The development of a masterplan for the city of Pacujá (Brazil) - Thedevelopment of a Environmental Management Plan in Teresina (Brazil); - The development of a Social Impact Assessment in Teresina (Brazil).
