The purpose of this review is to take a look at your competency as a designer and your professional development as a whole. This review is a requirement for all students. Your time slot will be assigned in class. Mid Program review may take place in 4th Quarter through 6th quarter. The areas we will be reviewing include work produced in the courses you have taken to date showing skills in layout, use of color, typography, illustration, and conceptual development. Classwork will be mounted on black board with project statements attached on the reverse. A terminology quiz is also a requirement and instructions will be provided in class.

Mid Program Review
Concept Book Saved work from all courses and projects Present a complete, full example of client research, ideas, development and process. • Must show individuality and concept development • Feature at least 2 individual, complete creative developments (10-15 thumbnails, 6-8 comps) corresponding to existing projects in portfolio. • Minimum size 7" x 10", 50 double-sided pages. • Must contain 80% of hand rendered concepting and 20% of research from various media.
Typography & Page Layout Class: Typography - Hierarchy / Fundamentals of Layout Design

Page layout using type as the primary design element with body text.
Production Art Class: Advanced Layout Design • Production Certificate.
Page Layout & Periodical Design Class: Pre-Press and Production

Computer generated professional newsletter completed in InDesign.
Advertising Design Class: Concept Design

Two black and white ads as part of a campaign.
Applied Illustration or Infographic Class: Rapid Visualization / Digital Illustration / Information Design

• Students are encouraged to display their tattoo designs, paintings, assemblages, digital photos etc. (Work not directly related to classes)

Identity System Class: Typography / Concept Design / Graphic Symbols Trademark • Design must be of original concept. Application • Business card, letterhead, envelope. Collateral • Collateral pieces appropriate to selected client. Work submitted as a re-design effort must include the original design. A committee consisting of the Academic Director, faculty and Career Services will be evaluating your work and written and verbal communication skills. We will also assess your work habits, in particular time and money management. These areas will be of extreme importance in the portfolio process. Senior Year students may be invited to attend the review as well. As some transfer students may not have taken all the indicated courses at AiS, please work with your instructor as to substitutions for these requirements.
