From Havøysund, visitors can catch a boat to the
Øksfjord
islands of Rolvsøy and Ingøy and to Fruholmen lighthouse, further out into the Arctic Ocean. The area provides excellent opportunities for deep-sea fishing. Hjelmsøystauren rock, with one of Europe’s largest bird colonies, is also well worth a visit.

Alta Tourist Route Havøysund runs from Kokelv National to Havøysund over a total distance of 66 kilometres (County Road 889). The coastal liner Hurtigruten calls at Havøysund every day of the week, giving you the opportunity to design your own round trip and see several National Tourist Routes.

SELVIKA is located at a scenic spot on the road. The rest area, with service facilities, bicycle shed and a barbecue area, is fully accessible. Selvika bay has the only accessible sandy beach on the stretch from Snefjord to Havøysund. This sheltered bay is a favoured picnic spot for the people of Havøysund on sunny summer days. LILLEFJORD. This rest area with its bridge and trail is a little gem on the road leading to Havøysund. The area has some birch forest and an idyllic stream with a resplendent waterfall up on the hillside. Architect: PUSHAK arkitekter. 2
SNEFJORD. Enjoy the view from the box-chairs in Snefjord. They are placed so as to provide shelter no matter which way the wind is blowing. Architect: PUSHAK arkitekter (Langeland, Drage Kleiva, Melbye and Gromholt). 3
