EDITORIAL Summer is close to an end and what a busy summer it has been for Frank Salt Real Estate... All of our branches generated excellent results even in the heat of August. Our sales and letting negotiators were all extremely active not only completing sales or lease agreements but also sourcing and registering new properties to add to our already large database of properties for sale and to let. I would like to extend a sincere ‘’well done’’ to all, including administration, for their sterling work in the heat of summer. Frank Salt Real Estate has continued to be at forefront in the industry for many reasons not least of which is the willingness of the company to embrace changes in the market. This mind set will continue to serve as well during the, much discussed and analysed, Brexit negotiations which will be trashed out over the coming months and years. There is obviously much speculation upon what impact this significant change will have on our island, there are, so far, no indications that Brexit is having a negative effect upon the sphere of real estate locally. In fact we as Frank Salt believe that far from being detrimental to the market, we are confident that with large and medium sized enterprises (currently operating in the UK) contemplating securing a presence within the European Union, the benefits of Malta as a base of operations will prove extremely attractive, obviously increasing the demand for commercial offices and residential buy to let properties. What may also have a bearing on corporate decisions to re-locate to Malta is the results of a recent survey, conducted by expat insiders - the best and worst places for expats to work and live.

Malta, a newcomer in last year’s survey, has moved up one spot to claim second place, thus pushing Mexico, last year’s second-place winner, off the podium completely, but only down to fourth place. Malta is also in the top ten for every index that factors into the overall ranking. Malta came first in terms of settling down, getting used to the local culture and making new friends. Over four in ten expats (41%) say it is very easy to settle down in Malta, well over twice the global average of 16%. Three-quarters of expats say they couldn’t be more pleased and not a single respondent had anything negative to say! With such glowing results, it is perhaps no surprise that almost half the expats in Malta are planning to stay forever (49%), significantly higher than the global average of 31%. This is a very exciting time for the real estate industry in Malta and we at Frank Salt Real Estate embrace the vibrant, energetic and demanding environment in which we find ourselves and in which we are pleased to be recognised as market leaders. We are more than half way into our long term expansion plan, currently outstripping predictions and expectations.
