As Michela and Attilio are Italian, albeit now rooted in South Africa, their future endeavours include reviving Italian cultivars, seeking out old vines and focusing on adding popular and niche varietals to the Nomoya brand. Their passion is infectious, and the hungry-to-learn-Talia is already getting acquainted with the Italian language as she is about to learn more of the fascinating grape varieties hailing from there! a rotating the wine offering which will include wines from New Zealand, France, and others joining the Hive. It will be educational and entertaining to visit for all and guests can take some of the gems home too. Of course there needs to be food, and Attilio believes that is the way to keeping things buzzing! Simplicity is key and people can enjoy artisanal cold meats and cheeses with their wine.
Not having a tasting room, of their own, the trio thought out of the box and have recently opened The Wine Hive in the historic town of Paarl. “We called it The Wine Hive as a beehive is always buzzing with excitement, and these creatures also represent sustainability. We believe this is bringing a new chapter to the town where we celebrate our wines and other great South African and International wines,” says Michele.

Durbanville Wine Valley Unveils Landmark Sauvignon Blanc
The inaugural vintage of a milestone Sauvignon Blanc wine has been released by the 13 wineries of the Durbanville Wine Valley that supplied the wine for its making. While collaborations of this scale are rare, it is the region’s reputation for pioneering and awardwinning Sauvignon Blanc that makes this an outstanding contribution to the pantheon of South African wine. The cool, two ocean-influenced climate of the Durbanville Wine Valley is ideal for the slow and flavourful development of wine grapes, particularly Sauvignon Blanc. Award-winning wineries Diemersdal and Durbanville Hills were contributors to the collaboration wine, simply named Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc, along with Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, Canto, D’Aria, De Grendel, Groot Phesantekraal, Klein Roosboom, Maastricht, Meerendal, Nitida and Signal Gun. Its final production was entrusted to veteran winemaker Charles Hopkins and Morgan Steyn of De Grendel.
