The Abe Opperman Gallery in Franschhoek Expands

The Abe Opperman Gallery, situated in the heart of Franschhoek at 11 Huguenot Street, is immeasurably proud and grateful to be a part of the Franschhoek community. Business partner Ben Theron who found, curates and manages the space looks forward to presenting a series of new works and summer exhibition at the recently expanded gallery as well as alternative artistic expressions in the form of sculpture and complimentary lifestyle objects. his art reveals a love for flowers, trees, alluring landscapes, Eastern philosophy and culture and children at play. Following a successful career in events and interior design Abe established himself as a commercial artist having exhibited in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Raised on an idyllic farm in the Free State with a beautiful English garden, Abe feels very much at home in Franschhoek surrounded by the towering trees and majestic mountain ranges. www.abeopperman.co.za

In these unprecedented times, Abe feels compelled to share his perspective and experience in the hope that is brings joy and respite to anyone who observes his work. Using mostly black and white, sometimes with the appearance of very symbolic patches of colour, Abe reflects the world through the eyes of his inner child and paints visual recollections of his unique encounters with the ordinary and extra ordinary. Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Unwooded 2020 – A NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY

Amazing getaway, sustainable and located directly on the beach in Paternoster.

Haute Cabrière’s love of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is no secret. In fact, Haute Cabrière has dedicated itself to exploring these Burgundian grapes through artful blends and single-varietal wines ever since the von Arnim family bought the farm in 1982. The 2020 Chardonnay Unwooded is an exciting new addition to the Haute Cabrière Range of lifestyle wines. It is also an expression of the von Arnim’s passion for Chardonnay. “The Chardonnay Unwooded is the long-awaited sibling to the fruity Pinot Noir Unwooded and Chardonnay Pinot Noir blend. With its fresh, crisp fruit profile and balanced acidity, it is a great first act and flows perfectly into a glass of the Chardonnay Pinot Noir, followed by the Pinot Noir Unwooded,” says Takuan von Arnim, Cellar Master. “The journey started two years ago,” expands Winemaker Tim Hoek. “We took months to find the perfect block with a terroir that lent itself to a 100% Chardonnay and little manipulation of the grapes for a fruit-forward profile.” Harvested by hand and gently destemmed, the grapes were handled with care to showcase the vibrant and full flavours. All of this makes for a beautifully complex unwooded Chardonnay that can be enjoyed now, or aged for three to five years. It pairs well with drinks after work, picnics and braais with friends, and afternoons of gardening. As for food pairings, think shellfish on the braai with a light and fresh marinade.
