A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR In this issue we introduce two new destinations in Vietnam: Paradise Elegance, a new vessel offering distinctive journeys in the beautiful Ha Long Bay; and the InterContinental Danang in the Sun Peninsula in Danang, located in the central region of Vietnam. I recently went to see Sunset Boulevard at the Palace Theater on Broadway where Ms. Glenn Close reprised her role as Norman Desmond. I saw the original production in 1994 and the recent production, 23 years later, was excellent. Ms. Close provided an amazing performance that received several standing ovations. In this issue we highlight Ms. Close in our American Legends section. Latin Art is now featured in the most prestigious museums around the world. Artists like Fernando Herenu, Tarsal do Amaral, Alfredo Ramos and Fernando Marino whose paintings are in high demand are examples of the distinctive art of the Latin Americans. We hope that you enjoy this issue and we look forward to your comments.
Until our next issue … ”Go and See the World!” Franz E Buchhalter

COFFEE THE MAGIC ELIXIR Every morning millions of people around the world wake up to the aroma and flavor of a hot cup of coffee. The “magic elixir that has an effect on our brains and makes us feel happy is part of our morning routine. Yes, caffeine has alot to do with it, but no body can deny that missing that first cup of coffee in the morning will make us feel drowsy and less alert. Natural coffee is bitter, so why drink it? We all remember that first cup of coffee and it was not necessarily a great taste. Some people add different flavors to the coffee, or sugar and complement it with a variety of flavored milks to take the bitterness away and change the taste. Coffee now has many names like Latte Grande, Frappuccino, Spice Latte, Mocha Blend and so on. Coffee houses (when in reality they should be called Coffee Bars) are in every corner and charge as much as a restaurant might charge for a premium alcoholic drink. The coffee menu is growing and becoming very sophisticated. There were times that ordering coffee was a simple task. It was either regular or black. It was simple. Today you can be overwhelmed with the long list of names and the taste of the coffee is hidden among many other flavors.

Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth album by the Beatles and released on June 1, 1967 - This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of its release. The original album spent 27 weeks at the top of the UK charts and 15 weeks in the US. The title song it is said to have been born from Paul McCartneys “mishearing” pass the salt and pepper and the lyrics evolved from an Edwardian era military that would eventually form the legendary Sgt. Pepper concept. The song was part of the album of the same name that included other classic songs like “With a Little Help from My Friends”, “When I’m Sixty-Four” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”.
