Buenos Aires is one of those rare cities that offers everything for everyone - culture, history, excitement, sports, and most of all, memorable experiences. I was fortunate enough to visit this city for the first time in my late teens as a backpacker. My original plan was to be there for a week, but then extended the week to two months. I fell in love with the city, its energy, its food, and its people, and I made many friends. I have visited Buenos Aires almost every year since then and have seen the city like a Porteño. Buenos Aires remains one of my all-time favorite cities in the world.

Buenos Aires is also known as “the city that never sleeps.” There is no surprise to find people dining in the early hours of the morning, and “before sunrise” partying till breakfast time. And it is common to begin dinner around 10 pm because eating earlier than that is left to the tourists.

Seeing the city like a local begins with a visit to the Boca neighborhood. La Boca is a working-class area with a cluster of attractions near the Riachuelo River. Steakhouses and street artists surround Caminito, a narrow alley flanked by brightly painted zinc shacks that evoke the district's early immigrant days. A cauldron of noise on match days, La Bombonera is the home ground of the Boca Juniors soccer team. Modern art museum Fundación Proa has temporary exhibits and views of the old docks.

The next stop should be one of Buenos Aire's top tourist destinations; Palermo is the largest and trendiest neighborhood for sightseeing and people-watching in

NEW ORLEANS SAY IT LIKE A LOCAL

NEW ORLEANS Say It Like A Local

New Orleans is world-renowned for its distinctive music, Creole cuisine, unique dialects, and annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras. The French Quarter is the historic heart of the city, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife along Bourbon Street.

New Orleans is a melting pot of cultures and a multifaceted city with great cultural diversity that has influenced its music and, food, architecture and a colloquialism distinctive to New Orleans. The linguistic influences, particularly in the Cajun French, a descendant of the Acadian language, and Louisiana Creole, a language developed for communication between the 17th-century French settlers and the enslaved Africans

brought to New Orleans. These two influences impacted today's way of saying things in New Orleans, beginning with how locals say the city's name. Pronounced "New orlins" or "new or-lee-yuns" but not "naw-lins" or "new orleens." However, the parish and the avenue pronounced it "orl-eens."

When someone greets you, they say, "Where y'at? Not referring to a location but used as a greeting or “how are you?” Watch for the use of the word “picayune” to refer to something small.

Yes, New New Or-lee-ans. They have their particular way of saying things, which is one of the reasons why “The Big Easy” is such an exciting and unique city.

CRETE DIVERSE & VIBRANT

CRETE

Diverse & Vibrant

Greece is magical, filled with history, museums, iconic monuments, and many islands. It would take a long time to visit all of them, but there are a few that are a must on a trip to Greece. Most recently, I had the pleasure of exploring Crete.

The largest and most populous of the Greek Islands is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Crete is a diverse and vibrant land packed with ancient ruins, buzzing cities, and breathtaking beaches. Many people visit Crete for the sun, sea, and sand, yet the best thing to do in Crete is much more than the standard vacation. Like many islands in Greece, the best time to visit them is the summer, as the season starts in June and lasts till the end of September, with an average of 12 hours of sunshine daily. Visitors to Crete should plan to be there for at least five days to experience a good part of the island. and its culture.

Chania area, or western Crete, has the best beaches and some of the best hotels along the beautiful Chania Town with its elegant restaurants, the picturesque Old Town of Chain, and the incredible Samaria Gorge.
