Ice Skating - After School Club / Learn to SKate

Join Coach Dan for fun ice skating after school at the Icebox! Learn to Skate is for kids with little to no experience ice skating. This class will cover all the basics of ice skating. Kids will work on learning to stop, turning, and basic body positioning for ice skating. Skate rentals are included with registration. Kids should have winter clothes to skate in- ski/snow pants, winter jacket, gloves, scarf or neck gator, and warm socks. A helmet is required- ski helmets work great and keep kids warm- a bike helmet is also acceptable.We are working with the East Grand School District to arrange for kids to ride the Cow bus from Fraser Valley Elementary. Ice Skating - After School Club / Level 2

Level 2 is for kids with at least some experience ice skating. This class will play games that reinforce skills such as stopping, changing direction, and improving balance on skates. Kids will work to develop more advanced ice skating skills such as skating backwards, hockey stopping, and improving acceleration. Skate rentals are included with registration. Kids should have winter clothes to skate in- ski/snow pants, winter jacket, gloves, scarf or neck gator, and warm socks. A helmet is required- ski helmets work great and keep kids warm- a bike helmet is also acceptable. We are working with the East Grand School District to arrange for kids to ride the bus from Fraser Valley Elementary. Parents should pick up at 4:45 at the Icebox. Questions? Intro to Hockey

For those boys and girls with minimal skating experience who want to improve their skills and learn to play hockey. A helmet of some type is required. Students MUST wear appropriate outdoor clothing including warm, water proof coat, snow pants, mittens or gloves, neck warmer and warm socks. We will meet in the after school classroom for a quick snack and then be transported to the “IceBox” Ice Rink at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex. Please pick up at 5:00pm at the Ice Rink. Broomball - After-School

Join Coach Kelton for broomball after school at the Icebox! Broomball is played on the ice rink with a ball about the size of a soccer ball and foam sticks shaped like brooms. Players wear shoes and run around on the rink trying to score on the opponent’s net, similar to hockey or soccer. Kids should have winter clothes to skate in- ski/snow pants, winter jacket, gloves, scarf or neck gator, and warm socks. A helmet is required- ski helmets work great and keep kids warm- a bike helmet is also acceptable. Winter boots with good traction are required. Transportation info will be communicated prior to the first week of class. Fraser Valley Rec is working with the East Grand School District to arrange for kids to ride the bus from Fraser Valley Elementary. Parents should pick up at 4:45 at the Icebox. Questions? Hockey- Mixer Draft League

The Mixer Draft League is back for the 2021 season! Players should register individually, teams will be drafted once registration closes. Games will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights. The Icebox is tentatively scheduled to open in early October. Team rosters and game schedules will be sent out once an opening date for the Icebox is confirmed. Adult Learn to Play Hockey

The 4-week Adult Learn to Play Hockey program, for individuals 18+, will take place on Tuesdays 8-9:00 PM beginning on October 19th. Fraser Valley Rec’s Adult Learn to Play Hockey program is for those who have never played hockey before or for those who have very little experience. In this program, at least 30 minutes of each hour will focus on the most important part of hockey, skating. Each week, participants will progress on the basics of the forward and backward skating stride, stopping, puck control, passing and shooting. Each practice is designed for players to practice their skills at their own pace. Team play will also be introduced through small area games in a fun and encouraging environment.This program is a great way to prepare for your first season in our Adult Hockey Leagues.
