Dear Rec Friends, Sharing recipes is a wonderful tradition and we need your favorite family recipes! FVMRD is publishing a cookbook to honor our mothers and children. We are planning on having our cookbook ready for Mother’s Day. You will have the opportunity to honor your mother and/or your children by sharing a favorite recipe from your heritage. Your name and the name of your honoree will be printed with each of your recipes. Please share 3 or 4 of your favorite recipes. We hope to be able to use at least one recipe from each family. Although we can’t guarantee this, we will keep all recipes for future publications. Each cookbook will be professionally typeset, printed and bound with a unique cover and special pages. The best part is the profits will go to the Fraser Valley Recreation Foundation and help fund the Fraser Valley Sports Complex playground project and The Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund. We anticipate a great demand for these keepsake cookbooks, and we want to be certain to order plenty. We would appreciate if you would indicate how many cookbooks you would like us to reserve in your name. Remember to reserve enough for your family and friends. Thank you for sharing your recipe! ___________________________ Name

Why the need for a new playground at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex?
A central feature to the FVSC is an aging playground that the FVMRD and the Foundation are planning to replace. The existing playground is 17 years old (opening in 1996), is showing significant wear and tear, and is not ADA compliant. With all of the activity at the FVSC, the playground is overused and at many times is undersized for the amount of visitors it attracts. We are seeking funds to replace the equipment and surfacing in the playground with equipment and surfacing that includes ADA accessible play elements, creating a playground that offers a range of play experiences to children of varying ages and abilities. In addition, we are planning a playground that incorporates Grand County history. The educational component of the playground will be highlighted by interpretational signage on certain play elements, including names of historic Grand County buildings. Play equipment currently planned includes a stagecoach and train component, old west storefronts, including a mercantile building, hotel, and jail, and Native American elements consistent with the Ute tribe.
