Fraser Valley Library

Summer Reading Program June - July, 2018 Fraser Valley Library’s Sign-up begins Tuesday, June 5! The Fraser Valley Library is hosting special programs this summer. 421 Norgren Rd., Fraser, CO 80442 Ph. 970-726-5689

Be ALL you can BE!

June 11-13 (Check with library for schedule) A musical magic show by Michael Casey

Dino O’Dell

Thursday, August 2, 10:30 am Dino O'Dell, children's musician and author of Zar and the Broken Spaceship, will be blasting off with a musical dance party. Whether he's counting monsters, fixing spaceships or swimming in peanut butter, Dino's interactive songs and tall tales engage curiosity, inspire laughter and stir the imagination.

Summer Story Times (Toddlers/Preschool) Thursdays 10:00 am

Public libraries, through their summer reading programs, put books in the hands of children. This is the best antidote for the ‘summer slide’ in children’s reading achievement. Access to books and library programs over the summer results in more reading which, in turn, results in improved reading skills. Bernard A. Margolis

“My son and his friends had so much fun at your summer camp that I don’t think he ever realized he was learning engineering! I’m sure the next time he asks the question, “When am I ever going to need this?” while doing a math problem, I’ll be the first to remind him of the principles he learned by creating cool Lego projects. Kids are motivated in different ways to learn. Teaching elementary kids how information and knowledge can be great fun and very useful will open their minds to possibilities they may never have considered. Please come! We love you!” -Quenta H

Theater Camp - MULAN

In China there is a legend of a great soldier who saved the emperor and who saved all of China from the monstrous Hun army. This soldier was a girl named Mulan. She was never very good at her traditional “girl” responsibilities, and no matter what she tried she always ended up dishonoring her family. Until one day the army came for her aging father and Mulan took his place, breaking the law and pretending to be a boy so she could serve instead of him to protect his life. With the help of a lucky cricket, a wise-cracking dragon and a rag tag group of soldiers, Mulan defies tradition, brings honor to her family and becomes the hero of China! The Functional Movement Screen is an assessment to document movement patterns that are key to normal function. Assessing these patterns, the FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. The FMS score is used to track progress and identify exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength.
