WHAT AN AMAZING WEEK! THE BEST CREW & AN UNBELIEVABLE YACHT. NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE THE WEEK OF HEAVEN WE HAD. THE MEMORIES WILL LAST A LIFETIME.” Charter Client, WHEELS, 76M (249‘)

Why we charter… …by the people who know

WHO CAN SPEAK BETTER TO THE TRUE BENEFITS OF CHARTERING A YACHT FOR YOUR NEXT VACATION THAN PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE JUST THAT AND RETURNED HOME FILLED WITH MEMORIES AND A SENSE OF RELAXATION LIKE NO OTHER? WE SPEAK TO CHARTER GUESTS TO FIND OUT HOW THEIR TIME ON BOARD HELPED THEM UNLOCK TRUE FREEDOM.

“ T HE CREW WAS FANTASTIC. THE BEST I THINK WE HAVE EVER HAD. THE FOOD WAS GREAT. THE BOAT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND WE LOVED THE SWIM DECK AND THE BEACH CLUB. A REALLY GREAT VACATION!” Charter Client, LADY JORGIA, 74M (242‘)

WHY CHARTER?

“THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME TRIP SO MEMORABLE. I CANNOT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN.”

T

he words of one very happy guest on returning from a recent charter sums up what makes charter so special: the opportunity to escape with those you care for, with every day and every experience tailored to you, and to make memories that will last forever. This client of 76M (249‘) WHEELS agrees: “What an amazing week! The best crew and an unbelievable yacht. No words can describe the week of heaven we had. The memories will last a lifetime.”

“THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND.”

At the heart of any vacation experience is the service, and as seasoned Charterers will know, it is the crew that really make a charter. “The crew was fantastic. The best I think we have ever had,” commented a 2021 charter guest on board 74M (242‘) LADY JORGIA. “The food was great. The boat was beautiful and we loved the swim deck and the beach club. A really great vacation!” As this guest points out, the success of the best charters comes from a winning combination of a world-class yacht and an exceptional crew. “The outstanding experience on 33M (108‘) ASKARI was made all the better by your amazing crew that happily anticipated every need and want! From the great food to the wonderful service, it all made us feel at home... like a part of the family,” said a recent charter guest. The level of personalised service each guest enjoys on a charter is far beyond what you might experience in even the highestend villa or hotel, with many yachts offering a guest to crew ratio of 1 : 1. “Words cannot express how friendly and caring the crew were,” one guest told us. “I felt as though they went above and beyond for us at every turn. I don‘t think a drink ever ran dry or a snack ever went empty — which is saying a lot with four kids on board!”

WHY CHARTER?

AND WITH THE EVENTS OF 2020 HIGHLIGHTING A REAL NEED TO SPEND MORE QUALITY TIME TOGETHER, MORE FAMILIES THAN EVER ARE TURNING TO YACHTING AS A SOLUTION TO UNLOCK FREEDOM IN SAFETY.

“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VACATION WE EVER SHARED.”

For families like these, a charter can be both a chance to re-connect with one another away from the distractions of daily life, and an opportunity for parents to relax in peace in the knowledge that their children are being well taken care of and having a wonderful time. And as many families will attest, time spent on a yacht, undistracted by daily life, is some of the best time they have ever spent together. “It was the most beautiful vacation experience that we ever shared with each other — and the fact that I could ‘give’ them that still fills me with a lot of gratitude and pride,” the principal charter guest on board a 36M (118’) yacht recently movingly told us. “Spending my 65th birthday aboard AMARULA SUN (50M/164‘) was special,” said one client. “The wonderful personality made this boat a one-of-a-kind adventure. I want to thank the entire crew for making our trip so special and appreciate very much the way you looked after my grandchildren. Thank you for the best experience of my life, truly a dream.”

“DISTANCED FROM THE WORLD.”

And with the events of 2020 highlighting to many of us a real need to spend more quality time together, more families than ever are turning to yachting as a solution to unlock freedom and relaxation in safety: last year saw the highest number of yachts and pleasure craft purchased since records began. In part, this surge is due to the seclusion and privacy a yacht offers, away from the crowds —

a desire felt more keenly than ever before by many of us. “I love the fact that as soon as I step on board, I immediately feel at a distance from the world,” says one charter guest, a repeat client of a 72M (236’) yacht. Many guests also tap in to their Captain’s or crew’s local knowledge to discover a region’s hidden anchorages and bays. The guest adds: “Some of the best moments of our charter were when the deckhands took us on adventures to these amazing quiet bays — we felt like we were the only people on the planet for a day!”

“I FEEL TWO DECADES YOUNGER.”

On board, guests who prioritise quiet time appreciated that there was always a quiet balcony, shaded foredeck or sunpad for reading, relaxing or enjoying a massage. For one such client, who recently spent a week on board a 52M (170’) yacht in the Caribbean, the wealth of well-being treatments available were key to her winning a key benefit that she had not expected from her charter: to step off on the final day feeling better than she had in years. “Having a masseuse available whenever and wherever I wanted was the ultimate treat,” she said. “In a week of charter, I feel like I’ve knocked two decades off my age!”

WHY CHARTER?

“BEYOND FANTASTIC TOYS.”

Of course, if it is action and activity that you and your family are craving after months of confinement, you do not need an onboard gym: from a yacht, the ocean is your playground, facilitated by garages loaded with top-range water toys. As one client told us: “I think we literally used every toy on the yacht — and had the best time doing so.” Another client said: “We absolutely loved all the toys on board MAGIC (39M/130’), especially the slide and jet-ski.” And after a charter on board AMARULA SUN, a guest said: “The toys were beyond fantastic and the exterior crew teaching us were so, so fun and helpful! We all had the best time ever!” And on board a high-performance sailing yacht like OHANA (50M/163‘), the yacht itself is the toy: “It was a thrill to sail with you and share this experience — a fantastic week! A memorable once-in-a-lifetime adventure.”

“A WHOLE NEW WORLD.”

Toys also open up the potential for adventure. “There are so many places to go by boat — we swam multiple times each day, went to several ports and just had the time of our lives,” said a guest of a 29M (95’) yacht after her recent charter. If you’re looking for a new physical challenge to conquer, join the many clients who have fallen in love with kitesurfing or jet-surfing on charter. And the fun doesn’t stop at the surface, as guests on 42M (137‘) SAMATA appreciated: “We loved the snorkelling and diving and being able to see a whole new world under the sea.” (Find out where in our diving feature on page 24).

“THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING TO SAY THE LEAST.”

And after a day on the water, what better way to relax and catch up with loved ones than over dinner on board? Enjoy delicious freshly caught seafood, Wagyu beef or any other dish you desire, prepared by your own private chef, and served in style with a glass of your favourite vintage Champagne, wine or a signature cocktail. “The chef was outstanding to say the least,” says a 33M (108’) yacht charter guest. “He was so accommodating with eight people that all wanted a little something different.” And, at a time when you may be disappointed that your favourite restaurant is not open, consider this feedback from a client of a 50M (164’) charter yacht: “Although we ate a few times onshore, the food on the boat was always vastly superior.”

WHY CHARTER?

SUSTAINABLE OPTIONS

Sustainable food sourcing and vegan menus are just a few ways Fraser and our yachts have responded to the increasing number of charter guests who come to us asking how they can vacation greener. “These days, the planet and its protection are pretty important for my family — especially my teenage daughters,” explains a long-time Charterer and a recent guest on board the carbon-offsetting WHEELS (see page 126). “To that end, we are always looking for sustainable options for our holidays and our daily life in general.” Motivated and inspired by clients just like this one, Fraser has launched FUTURE (Fraser Unites To Universally Respect the Environment) and put into motion a number of initiatives on board to support Charterers who want to holiday with less impact. Turn to page 30 to read about just some of the actions you can feel good about on board, should you choose to.

“WE CAN‘T STOP TALKING ABOUT IT.”

It is this element — choice — that perhaps best sums up the true benefits of a charter experience. In 2021, more than ever, we are all searching for a place where we can truly relax, in the way we choose, in an environment we can control. And on board you will have what you need before you even need to ask. As this client of a 50M (164’) yacht told us after his charter: “Not one person had a single complaint. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the staff accommodated everyone. If we stayed up till 4am, there was someone there at 4am. If we wanted fish, it was found. If we wanted to change locations, it was done.” These are the states of mind that enable true relaxation, reconnection and the ability to return to land with a clear mind, ready for new horizons ahead. “The family can’t stop talking about it,” a Charterer of a 36M (118’) yacht told her Fraser Broker afterwards. “We’re still thinking and talking about it every single day.”

WHY CHARTER?

W

e asked a selection of our clients what they were most excited about doing on their next charter. They responded very differently to how they would have in the past. WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU ON YOUR YACHT CHARTER?

Previously, clients tended to mention nights out, shopping and exploring local sites as some of the activities they were excited to do on their charter. Fast forward one year and their answers are very different. In 2021, people are more driven than ever before to find a means to get back to nature, and to escape in safety and privacy in a controlled environment. And more are realising that a yacht offers just that. So today, the elements our guests are most looking forward to on their charter run a little deeper. As one client who has booked a charter on a 63M (207’) yacht this summer told us: “For me, it doesn’t really matter where we go — as long as we are together and don’t have to worry about a thing.” This client, like many, sees yachting as the perfect vacation option to keep risks minimal while still offering the opportunity to enjoy something different each day. “I strongly believe that this year, the yachts themselves will become the destination, and whilst the cruising area of course plays a role, the service, toys and food on board are just as attractive — if not more so,” says Fraser CEO Raphael Sauleau. “People will see the unique benefits of a yacht as a destination in itself, and of enjoying an incomparable experience at sea while seeing many places in a day — something that a resort or villa holiday simply does not allow.” THE BEST TOYS... AND PROS TO SHOW YOU HOW

Of course, staying away from dry land does not mean staying physically on board for your entire charter. Most days will involve dropping anchor in a local spot that the Captain knows to be quiet, away from the crowds, and discovering a local swimming hole, a snorkelling/diving spot teeming with ocean life or a calm bay ideal for water sports. You have probably tried a selection of yacht toys before, but with more time to spend on the water and less on land, this is an opportunity to discover just how many options are available to you. Thrill seekers can zoom around on jet-skis, sea scooters and Flyboards. For those looking to harness the power of nature, a yacht with kitesurfing and windsurfing gear is a good choice. Catamarans, kayaks and paddle boards are best for quiet exploring. Water-skis, wakeboards and other towables attached to a tender provide hours of thrills and spills for the entire family. And for the younger (and young at heart) guests, the deck crew can assemble inflatable trampolines, slides, climbing walls and pools on the sea. “It is hard to pick the best part of our charter, but our group probably most enjoyed the water sports, and getting to hang out on our own private beach areas,” said one guest on a 48M (157’) yacht. “The crew came up with new spots and things for us to do every day and seemed to out-do themselves every time. The views, activities, and service were all unbelievable!” It goes without saying that expert onboard instruction is all part of the service. And did you know that your crew instructors go far beyond just showing you the ropes? “There wasn’t one time we weren’t exploring, swimming, playing, and bonding as a family and the deckhands were the ones that kept that going,” a charter guest on board a 33M (108’) yacht told us. “They made sure everything was ready to go at a moment’s notice and were right there with us the entire time with a drone, GoPro and a camera taking pictures and video that will last a lifetime for us.”

A NEXT-LEVEL CREW

As well as instructors, the crew are also your private pilots, taking you by tender to the best local spots, known only by true insiders, for your chosen activity. Passionate about sport fishing? Your Broker will arrange a yacht with a fully equipped fishing boat. Planning to dive on charter? We will find you a yacht with a dive boat and all the gear, a decompression chamber and PADI certified crew. Or looking for something even more extreme? Some yachts offer helicopters that take you to the top of a mountain to heli-ski or hike. Equally, should you prefer to explore below the water, try a deep-sea experience on a yacht (or tandem charter) with a submarine, such as U BOAT NAVIGATOR’s, that will take you on an unforgettable experience 1,000M/3,000’ below the surface (see our Dive feature on page 24). Today’s top charter crews also offer enhanced skill sets in a wide range of other activities. Captain Paul Bickley of 74M (242’) LADY JORGIA tells us: “We have a sailing instructor, massage/spa therapist, hairdresser and bartender on the crew. You can start your day with a sailing lesson, enjoy a massage on a shaded balcony, be perfectly coiffed and start your evening on board with seriously good cocktails.” While most yachts can arrange massages anywhere on board, those guests serious about wellbeing can book one with a sauna, hammam and even a full spa. And the best part? These facilities, and this crew, are just for you and available on demand 24/7.

WHY CHARTER?

ENTERTAINMENT EXTRAS

Thanks to sports-loving yacht owners, even the sportiest families do not need to miss out on their favourite land-based hobbies while on board. Desperate for golf? On some yachts, you’ll find a tee and eco-friendly golf balls ready for you on the sundeck. Want to shoot hoops with your children? Ask for a yacht with an onboard basketball court. Love family game time on a Saturday afternoon? The crew can set up a session of beach (or deck) Olympics with the onboard gear. And if you prefer your games more in the virtual realm, just head down to the yacht’s cinema or one of the salons for an epic big-screen gaming session on the PlayStation or XBox. Yacht cinemas, some with 3D capabilities, are loaded with games and thousands of movie titles, and guests looking to enjoy a romantic or family movie night beneath the stars can do so, thanks to projectors, outdoor screens and candlelit decks set up for you. THE ULTIMATE PRIVATE DINING EXPERIENCE ...

For many Charterers, enjoying lunch at the best table in their favourite oceanfront restaurant, or trying out the local cuisine of their destination, is one of the greatest pleasures of charter. But why share a space with others when you can dine on a fully personalised menu, made with finer and fresher ingredients than any restaurant stocks, at any time, with waiting staff dedicated only to you? “Yachts are so much more personal than restaurants,” says one chef on board a 70M (229’) yacht. “Instead of being one of 30 tables, you are the only table and get the full attention of the chef and serving staff.” This also makes it easier for special requests: “If you’re a vegan, you might be a minority in a restaurant, but on a yacht you are our focus.” Similarly, on yachts, everything is home-made, so if you only eat gluten-free bread, the chef will have it prepared for you. Even small irritations, such as a hotel or villa providing a different brand of bottled water to the one you prefer, are avoided on a yacht, thanks to the information you provide before stepping on board. A yacht is a versatile space, with stewardesses able to transform decks into anything from a Venetian trattoria to Harry Potter world, a Monte Carlo casino or a Mexican bar (yachts are full of surprises, and you could even find yourself entertained over dinner by crew who are professional magicians or musicians). And the chef is

equally versatile. Where else could you experience the finest cuisine from a multitude of different countries, all in one place? As one client of 29M (95’) URIAMIR, explains: “The chef was amazing. He baked everything fresh — made us steak the first night, then a seafood feast, then a Turkish feast and then a Chinese feast. Everyone raved about it — and those were our best meals.” And if you have a favourite dish from a restaurant in Portofino, St Barths or St Tropez that you are unable to visit, mention it to the chef — the chances are high that they can re-create it and probably improve upon the original! ...OR NIGHT OUT

The same goes for recreating your favourite cocktail from Basil’s or the Hotel de Paris, which always taste better from your own private hot tub, with the music of your choice playing. However, if nightlife is normally a huge part of your charter but off the table for 2021, a yacht is the answer — some offer deck spaces ready to transform at the touch of a button into full dance floors, with lights, DJ gear, smoke machine, professional sound system and karaoke. You can even fly in your own personal DJ. Of course, the chef is always on hand for your 4am pizza or burger fix. And if you are celebrating a special event on board, get ready to be wowed by your crew’s unlimited imagination: fireworks, a band serenading you, flowers, lights, decorations, costumes, props — nothing is too much effort. Think of your perfect vacation day on land, and we guarantee, your day on a yacht will be just as magical, if not better. Everything you eat and drink tastes better. Every toy is yours to use. The ocean is yours. All the crew on board are poised to fulfil your every request. Every day is personally tailored to your enjoyment. Essentially, when it comes to what you can do on charter, your imagination is the limit. Tell us what would make your charter experience perfect, and we will make it happen. Diving the deep blue TO CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF FRASER‘S DEEP BLUE EXPERIENCE WITH U BOAT NAVIGATOR, OUR TEAM TAKE A LOOK AT EIGHT TOP DIVE SITES AROUND THE WORLD.

THE GREAT EIGHT DISCOVER THE ’WORLD BENEATH’ FROM A YACHT IN THESE EPIC DIVE DESTINATIONS. 1. GHOST FLEET OF TRUK (OR CHUUK) LAGOON, MICRONESIA

About 1,800km (1,118 miles) north of New Guinea, the Ghost Fleet of Truk Lagoon is one of the most extraordinary underwater worlds ever uncovered. A Japanese stronghold during World War II and a base for its vast imperial fleet, it was attacked in 1944, plummeting a collection of vessels including 16 warships, 32 merchant ships, and more than 250 Japanese aircraft to the seabed. Dive among this graveyard of ships, and explore light cruisers, destroyers, submarine tenders, aircraft transport, torpedoes, tanks, engines, gas masks and more, all lying within a natural 225km-long reef atoll. 2. KOMODO NATIONAL PARK, INDONESIA

Manta rays, sharks, eagle rays, tuna, jacks, trevallies, bumphead parrotfish and Napoleon wrasse are just a few of the creatures you can expect to encounter among the many colourful corals of the Komodo National Park, with sharks often spotted in the north area. Anchor nearby and dive this underwater paradise. Great for exhilarating drift diving, it is a year-round destination within one of the world’s most stunning cruising grounds. After your dive, be sure to take the tender to Komodo Island to meet the endemic Komodo dragon, a rare dinosaur-like 3M (10’) long lizard. 3. THISTLEGORM, RED SEA

Historians and nature lovers flock to the wreck of this 125M (410’) British army freighter, which sank in 1941, just 18 months after her launch, and was rediscovered by Jacques Cousteau in 1956. Hit by a German bomb and sinking 30M (98’) to the bottom, she remains largely intact with her original cargo — including trucks, armoured cars, motorbikes and train wagons plus bombs, guns, grenades, boots and shoes — yours for the exploring. Swimming alongside you could be orange-spotted and Heber‘s trevally, schools of fusiliers, batfish, crocodile fish and the occasional hawksbill turtle.

4. WOLF & DARWIN ISLANDS, GALAPAGOS

The most isolated islands of the Galapagos, Wolf and Darwin are home to such extraordinary species on land that no one may step on to either island. The strong currents here mean only experienced divers can explore, as reef hooks must be used — but those currents also mean big fish. Think whale sharks and scalloped hammerheads, mantas, pods of dolphins, spotted eagle rays and even orcas. Select from only a handful of specialist yachts licensed for the Galapagos and have a specialist guide join you. 5. CORON BAY, PHILIPPINES

The best wreck diving in South East Asia, packed into a relatively small area, is found at Coron Bay, where a fleet of Japanese warships was bombed in 1944. Today, dive from the yacht to get up close to cabins, deckhouses, masts and cranes encrusted with colourful corals, plus a crow’s nest covered in huge barrel sponges. The wreck is also lively with sea life including lionfish, scorpion fish and shoals of jack, and is best for experienced divers with good buoyancy control.

anchors, and divers, by providing an alternative destination to explore. The sculptures in turn grow new coral and attract marine life.

7. TSIMANAMPETSOTSA NATIONAL PARK, MADAGASCAR

Among the ocean’s most fascinating archaeological wonders, Madagascar’s secret submerged caves are easily reached by yacht. Once underwater, find your way through these quiet, beautifully crystallised caves to a network of caverns. Here, the remains of ancient primates offer a glimpse into the ecology of the island’s past, with species including pygmy hippopotamuses and the now extinct elephant birds. 8. GREAT BLUE HOLE, BELIZE

At 300M (984’) wide and 125M (410’) deep, the Great Blue Hole is a massive underwater sinkhole on divers’ bucket lists. Offering great visibility on good days, it is best appreciated by experienced divers. Considered one of the world’s finest dive sites by Jacques Cousteau, expect Caribbean reef sharks, cave formations (speleothems) hundreds of thousands of years old, stalactites and the occasional hammerhead.

Diving opens up a whole new world — but for those adventurers looking for something more extreme, the new Deep Blue Experience by Fraser and U BOAT NAVIGATOR is the ultimate dive experience. Explore depths of 1,000m/3,000’ and unlock the mysteries of the Big Blue by submarine on this 24M (79’) vessel. Her star features are two submarines: one custom-built Triton 3300/3 with a working depth of 1,000M/3,000’, and one custom-built Triton 3300/1, a smaller submarine used for safety and filming. U BOAT NAVIGATOR offers professional scuba gear for 6 guests, a decompression chamber and a dive centre with gas mixing facilities.

6. MUSA (MUSEO SUBACUÁTICO DE ARTE), MEXICO

For those Charterers who prefer to keep their experiences eco-friendly, this breathtaking underwater museum of 500 sculptures 3-6M (9’–19’) beneath the surface is the only one of its kind in the world. It was founded with the objective of saving the nearby coral reefs, which were being damaged by tourists,

Live green? Charter green WONDERING HOW TO REDUCE YOUR IMPACT ON THE OCEANS WHILE YOU ENJOY YOUR VACATION?

Read on to discover what Owners, Captains and crew are putting in place on board yachts to enable you to do just that.

FUTURE Fraser Unites To Universally Respect the Environment

GREEN ON BOARD

A clean, green conscience AS SOMEONE PLANNING A CHARTER, YOU MAY BE ASKING YOURSELF: “IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO, OR THAT CAN BE DONE WHILE ON BOARD, TO MAKE MY VACATION MORE SUSTAINABLE?” GREAT NEWS: THERE ARE, TODAY, PLENTY OF INITIATIVES IN PLACE ON BOARD YACHTS IN THE FRASER FLEET, AND OTHERS AROUND THE WORLD, THAT ENSURE YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR CHARTER WITH A CLEAN, GREEN CONSCIENCE.

OFFSET YOUR IMPACT

Carbon offsetting is a simple, effective way to enjoy guilt-free cruising. Ask your Broker for a yacht that has signed up to the Yacht Carbon Offset Programme, and the fuel used on your charter, flights, land and sea transfers or accommodation emissions will be offset through donations to carbon dioxide-reducing projects from reforesting to wind farms. Yachts in the Fraser fleet including WHEELS and VISTA BLUE offer this option (and Fraser uses it for all corporate travel, as part of our green pledge, FUTURE — see the box below for more details). And if the yacht you would like to charter doesn’t already offset all charters? No problem — your Broker will arrange it for your specific charter. And carbon offsetting is inexpensive, too: for example, if during your one-week charter on WHEELS you cruise 200 nautical miles, €400 would be donated — a small price to pay for peace of mind.

FRASER‘S GREEN PLEDGE

SIMPLE CHANGES ON BOARD

During your time on board, there are plenty of simple ways the Captain and crew can cut down on impact and still service guests in an eco-responsible way. In the knowledge that almost 8 million tonnes of plastic leak into the ocean every year, taking hundreds of years to break down, most yachts today avoid single-use plastics on board and replace them with sustainable alternatives from metal to bamboo to rice. If this is something you are passionate about, just let your Broker know, and they can check these practices are in place or ensure your wishes are accommodated. Many yachts and crew have also signed the Clear Ocean Pact, set up to remove yachting’s dependency on single-use plastics and eliminate microplastic pollution from yachts. Energy consumption plays a significant role in the eco-sustainability of any yacht operation, so even a small reduction in the excess power consumption on board makes a real difference. Controlled underwater light usage, fewer laundry loads and switching lights off in areas not currently in use all play a part.

FUTURE

FUTURE (Fraser Unites To Universally Respect the Environment) is Fraser’s Green Pledge, symbolised by its logo: an hour glass with a fresh young sapling growing from within, a reminder that time is running out to take responsibility for our actions and their effects on our environment.

Fraser Unites To Universally Respect the Environment

The name FUTURE spotlights the vision that drives every action and initiative we, as a leader in our industry and a group of over 170 people worldwide, can now be part of — a single determination to play our part in helping protect, preserve and promote an environment we can enjoy together today and secure for our families and generations to come in the future. As part of FUTURE, we have also launched our Owners’ initiative CORAL, supporting coral reef restoration in alignment with the charity Coral Guardian.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO OCEAN RESEARCH

For the most eco-responsible Owners, simply reducing what they produce is not enough — they are looking for ways to actively contribute to changing the world while at sea, both while charter guests are on board and at other times. The Eyesea initiative, which Fraser is proud to spearhead in the yachting industry with our CEO Raphael Sauleau as Deputy Chair, addresses this head-on. Eyesea encourages the Owners, guests and crew of yachts (and other recreational vessels) to map marine pollution by snapping photos of surface pollution and sending them to its HQ via an app. The images are then incorporated into maps and charts, providing local and global data on marine pollution so that clean-up groups, researchers and local authorities can work to find solutions and clean up the oceans that are so vital to our world. GREEN TECHNOLOGY

If you are open to the type of yacht you choose for your charter and prioritise eco-friendly credentials above all, your Broker can take this into account at the outset, and suggest only those yachts built with environmentally-friendly cruising in mind. Think hybrid systems, dynamic positioning and streamlined hulls that reduce drag and operate with more efficiency and lower fuel consumption. Today’s shipyards and Owners are pushing the boundaries with green technology, and there are a number of exciting yachts for charter that run more cleanly. YERSIN, 76M (251’), for Sale with Fraser and available for Charter, sets the gold standard for green operations: she is built to be 95% recyclable, with 99.8% reductions on NOx and SOx emissions, extremely low fuel consumption and bilge water and wastewater treatment that is 60% cleaner than the international rules require. YERSIN’s motto: make your mark without leaving a trace. When it comes to travelling green in the big blue, these are words to live by.

Top and right, VISTA BLUE (page 211) and WHEELS (page 126) both offer carbon offsetting; Above right, YERSIN (page 122), available for Sale and Charter, is one of the world’s greenest vessels.

s the Owner of a charter yacht, you want to feel confident that your Charter Manager is maximising your yacht‘s potential to attract quality bookings and fill all calendar availability. In a competitive niche market, that is not a goal that just any Manager can deliver on. There are many exceptional yachts for charter: around 3,000 yachts in total. What sets one apart? A well-run charter programme, led by a trusted expert who knows the secrets of maximising charter operations.   Fraser’s multilingual global team of Charter Managers brings an average of 15 years’ experience to every yacht we manage. “Our experience means we are not only trusted by Owners, but just as importantly, by Brokers throughout the industry, who come to Fraser because they know that the clients they place on board will enjoy every moment and return time after time,” says Daniela De Marco, Head of Charter Management Europe. The results? More bookings, more often, for the yachts in our Charter Management fleet. Are you concerned that your current Charter Manager is not producing the revenue results you hoped for? “At Fraser, we know the secret tips that maximise revenue streams without impacting your enjoyment of your yacht,” says Kellie Shoemaker, Head of Charter Management USA. “Our team offers guidance on timing and positioning to prioritise charter opportunities. We screen all enquiries and filter those that enable reduced turnaround time between charters, enabling us to maximise bookings.” Collectively managing over 3KM worth of yachts around the world, Fraser Charter Managers also know the market and know what Charterers are looking for — and expect — from a charter

With hundreds of beaches to choose from in sands of pink and white, the Bahamas is an idyllic charter destination whether you are looking for a quiet romantic escape or an activity-filled family vacation. The underwater world is alive in the Bahamas, a diver’s paradise filled with wrecks to explore, blue holes, tunnels and shark diving. For less intrepid divers, these islands also offer wonderful snorkelling in shallow waters, with pristine reefs that are home to many species of vibrant colourful reef fish from parrotfish to snappers, plus four of the world's seven sea turtle species. From the decks, you are likely to spot minke and humpback whales and dolphins at play. And no charter here is complete without a stop at the famous Pig Beach in Big Major Cay in the Exumas, where you can hand feed 20 pigs and piglets. The Exumas are also the location of the famous Staniel Cay Plane Wreck, one of the most accessible in the world because of its location in shallow water, and ideal for an afternoon of snorkelling. The Bahamas and Exumas are also home to some of the best fishing, sport fishing and spearfishing in the world, with yellowfin tuna, blue marlin, mahi mahi, wahoo and many more ready to catch and enjoy on board prepared by the yacht chef.

Many dream of exploring Australia, but only a fortunate few can discover it by yacht. The Great Barrier Reef is a diver’s dream, best discovered by superyacht. A World Heritage Site, it is the largest coral reef area in the world, with over 2,900 reefs and 900 islands to explore, stretching for over 2,300 kilometres (1,400 miles) over an area of over 344,000 square kilometres (133,000 square miles). Discover a different reef each day directly from the swim platform. Explore the crescent-shaped Opal Reef with its coral gardens and giant clams, fish for coral trout or try sport fishing. Dive the many Ribbon Reefs to explore caves and swim alongside hard and soft corals, gorgonians, lionfish, moray eels, shrimp, clownfish and more. A short distance away, the Whitsundays are a romantic dream come true. Take a seaplane for a truly awe-inspiring sight of the atolls, and find deserted beaches and anchorages around every corner. For adventurous charterers looking for outback exploration, the Kimberley is a vast ancient landscape covering hundreds of thousands of square kilometres — a true wilderness and one of the world’s last frontiers. Cool off in remote freshwater swimming holes, take a helicopter over deep gorges and canyons, ride camels on the 22km (14 mile) long Cable Beach, and enjoy fantastic sunsets over extraordinary landscapes.

REAP THE BENEFITS OF YACHT OWNERSHIP

2020 saw more yachts above 24M (79’) bought and sold than any other year since industry records began back in 2009: 494 yachts sold. That represents an increase of almost 40% on the average for the last 12 years. Each yacht sold to an Owner who saw the true rewards that yacht ownership offered — 20% of them for the very first time. All of these Buyers began their yacht purchase journeys looking for the same qualities in the brokerage house they chose: unrivalled professional expertise, extensive market knowledge and a solid, proven track record in getting results. Not only is Fraser the longest serving full-service brokerage house in the world today: it is the only one to rank top for yacht sales performance in every yacht size range in the Superyacht Buyer Report 2020. Our team of over 40 yacht Brokers is one of our most valuable assets. Working alongside our dedicated Central Intelligence Department (CID), they have sold over €2.6 billion ($3.1 billion) worth of yachts in the past 5 years, combining pinpoint market knowledge with sharp negotiation skills to find the right yacht for every client. So highly regarded are our team, that on average 40% of all transactions undertaken by Fraser Brokers are for repeat clients.

“ I HAVE BOUGHT AND SOLD MANY YACHTS IN MY TIME. FRASER IS ONE OF THE FEW COMPANIES I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO RELY ON FOR THE PROFESSIONAL, SKILLED AND TIMELY SUPPORT I NEED TO GET WHAT I WANT.” Serial Yacht Owner, 45-55M (148-180’) Motor Yachts

The same year, Fraser also sold more of its Central Agency listings than any other provider.

YACHT MARKETING

Yacht marketing that gets results

videos — both yacht footage and an onboard walkthrough led by the Captain or Broker (Fraser provides in-house training and filming). Using this arsenal of personalised content that showcases the very best of your yacht, and an analysis of the yacht’s profile and USPs, we create a multi-platform strategy, with content optimised for the variety of channels that, based on our analytics, will get the optimum results and reach for your yacht. KNOW YOUR CLIENT

WANT TO KNOW THE SECRETS TO GETTING YOUR YACHT SEEN? FIND OUT HOW FRASER‘S DEDICATED YACHT MARKETING ENSURES YOUR YACHT REACHES THE RIGHT BUYERS AND CHARTERERS.

A

s an Owner either looking to sell your yacht or charter it out, your number one priority is that your yacht is seen by the right people: motivated Buyers, or Charterers, with a genuine and active interest in a yacht like yours. And as an Owner, you also know that the only way to receive quality enquiries from such individuals is to ensure that the brokerage house marketing your yacht knows the answer to three questions. What are your yacht’s most important selling points? Who is most likely to want to buy or charter it? And how do we reach them? Placing your yacht with Fraser means you can be sure that the answers to these questions are at the forefront of every action we take to connect and promote your yacht to the people who count. NO TWO YACHTS ARE THE SAME

Our first question is: what benefits will a future Owner or Charterer win by choosing your yacht? We begin with a deep-dive into your yacht, not only in terms of features, but the story, history and onboard culture that guests will enjoy. Speaking with those on board to learn what Owners and guests like about the yacht enables us to bring the experience alive in our marketing actions and storytelling.

No matter how enticing your photography, video and overall offering may be, your marketing will come to nothing if it is not seen by people who have the desire and the means to buy or charter a yacht like yours. Our Yacht Marketers work with the Sales and Charter teams to determine the clients your yacht is most likely to appeal to. This determines which platforms we use, the messaging we will establish and the creation of a personalised Marketing Strategy. REACHING POTENTIAL CLIENTS

Fraser uses over 30 different methods and platforms to ensure your yacht is brought to the attention of potential Buyers and Charterers. Email campaigns and newsletters go to our worldwide database of over 65,000 qualified clients and contacts. Targeted and thematic Social Media campaigns are run on Fraser’s industry leading platforms with over 180,000 engaged followers including Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. These campaigns send traffic and interest to specially created landing pages presenting your yacht on the Fraser website which today attracts over 210,000 unique visitors per month. Your yacht benefits from targeted investment in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to ensure searches for her by name or related features rank high in key countries around the world. Google ads may be employed for extra attention grabbing. Print ads within leading titles may be incorporated into the mix, not just in the marine sector but the mainstream luxury press as well. And crucially, for an industry that promotes yachts based on personal confidence, as and when real boat shows, Open Days, Familiarisation Trips and events return, the team ensure key players will always have the opportunity to get on board and see the yacht for themselves. IS IT WORKING?

What makes the difference with Fraser? We take the time to investigate what is working and what is not. The team constantly reviews the metrics from all campaigns, including activity on the Fraser website, to determine what to change or improve and what to drop. And all that analysis is shared with you in our regular Owner Reports so you can keep track on how everything is progressing.

We then collate or create a portfolio of marketing collateral: good imagery is key, from high-quality photography to 360° tours and

This is a very general overview of the approach our Yacht Marketing team take, working closely with your Fraser Broker or Charter Manager, to ensure your yacht is not just known but actually wanted. From our offices in Fort Lauderdale (USA), Antibes (France) Viareggio (Italy) and Palma (Spain), our teams apply the same ethics with the same rigour that put TCN on the map over 30 years ago — understanding what every client is looking for and using our database, networks and expertise to match the right crew member with the right yacht. Our recently revamped website also enables Owners and clients to easily register the position they are looking for — specialist consultants then put together a shortlist of candidates from our state-of-the-art database. ooking to supercharge your crew for the upcoming seasons? With 10,000 successful placements made, TCN knows the secrets of creating crews that work. THE WORLD’S LONGEST SERVING CREW AGENCY

A successful onboard experience depends on the perfect balance of the right yacht, operated by the right crew. And the best crews boast far more than the correct qualifications to be able to run a yacht safely and professionally. Today’s crew members bring a whole host of enhanced skills that add value to any yachting experience a yacht can offer, from drone videography to PADI diving lessons to personal training. Most importantly, crew members need to work perfectly together in order for the guest experience to be optimised every time. Consequently, crew placement is a delicate art that requires expert handling.

“ T HE BEST CREW RECRUITMENT AGENCY I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. EFFICIENT, ALWAYS PUNCTUAL, THEY SHOW COMPETENCE, COURTESY AND CONFIDENTIALITY.” Captain, 76M (249‘) Motor Yacht

BUILT ON A PASSION FOR THE WATER

Learn more about MarineMax at marinemax.com

With roots dating back over 40 years, the MarineMax story started when Executive Chairman of the Board, Bill McGill, moved his family to Florida to turn his lifelong passion into what would become the world’s largest boat retailer. Later, Bill, along with a group of America’s leading boat retailers, realised that by uniting companies, they could maximise efficiency of operations while sharing best practices on everything from insurance to mobile boat-servicing, allowing team members to focus on what’s important: helping clients get out on the water in the best possible way.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

We would like to thank…

A

fter a year we will never forget, we are all counting the days until we can get back on the water in freedom and safety and enjoy times with everyone we love once again. As we look ahead and look forward to new horizons, I am also looking back on months of fantastic teamwork, and expressing my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in successfully delivering another absolutely stunning Fraser Charter Portfolio. This is always a huge project, with logistics more challenging than ever this year, but our small and incredibly hard-working team of collaborators has gone above and beyond to create a book that I hope you will be pleased to display on your coffee table, share with friends and open when you feel like dreaming. Our hope, as ever, is to bring the charter experience alive, and show just how wonderful a charter experience can be on board one of the extraordinary yachts we are proud to represent. Debora Berardi, Andrew Thomas and their team at Inaria have yet again worked tirelessly and around the clock to create a visual work of art. Their inspired, outside-the-box design ideas and painstaking attention to detail are huge parts of what makes this book the success that has clients asking us how quickly they can get their hands on the next edition. Thank you. The Fraser Charter Management team deserves a special word of thanks for their invaluable insight into what makes the yachts they manage so special, and for checking every detail and image. Thanks also go to all the Fraser Charter Brokers for sharing their expert advice and insider tips on each of the beautiful destinations you can explore on board one of these beautiful yachts. I also give a huge thank you to the Fraser Marketing team, who have gone above and beyond this year to deliver on numerous projects including this book, ensuring that our yachts receive maximum exposure to potential clients around the world.

Thank you to the global Fraser team, the most dedicated and passionate professionals in delivering above expectations in every aspect of luxury yachting. A team who have this year proved their dedication to pulling together to ensure our clients get the results they need. As you will have seen in this book, we are fortunate to have some truly awe-inspiring images of yachts and the destinations they explore. The gifted photographers whose beautiful pictures and videos bring these impressive yachts to life include Thierry Ameller, Jeff Brown, Blue iProd, Jim Raycroft, Blue Lens Aerial, Quin Bisset, Stuart Pearce, Raphael Montigneaux, Guillaume Plisson and many more. Thank you to them all. Most importantly, none of this would be possible without you, the Owners, Charterers, Captains and crew who place their trust in Fraser year after year. It is our honour to make your yachting dreams a reality.
