In His Steps
Dr. John Ed Mathison, pastor emeritus | Aug. 28, 2024
(I Peter 2:21) For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow IN HIS STEPS.
If you are just interested, you will do what is convenient. If you are committed, you will choose to walk in His steps.
I. PASSIONATE PRAYER
(Luke 22:44) He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.
II. INTENTIONAL PRESENCE
(Luke 4:16) When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.
III. RADICAL GENEROSITY
(Luke 21:3-4) “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. 4 For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”
IV. SURRENDERED SERVICE
(Matthew 20:28) For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
If you are just interested, you will do what is convenient. If you are committed, you will choose to walk in His steps.
