Never Lose Hope: Living Hope

Dr. Chris Montgomery

December 8, 2024

1 Peter 1:3-5

(1 Peter 1:3-5) 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1. I can have hope because of my past transformation.

(Hebrews 6:19) We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

2. I can hope from the future because of the promises of God.

3. The past and the promises live in the present.

(Titus 2:11-13) 11 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

(John 14:18) I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
