JOY: A New Perspective
Part 1: Only You Can Choose
Dr. Chris Montgomery | Sept. 8, 2024
(James 1:2) Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds…
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Rejoice always, 17pray without ceasing, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1. Find something to celebrate
2. Never stop praying
3. Apply thankfulness to everything
4. Know God’s will for your inner life
A Christian always has at least two reasons to rejoice:
1. We can always rejoice because of who Jesus is.
(John 14:9) Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
2. We can always rejoice because of what Christ has done.
(Romans 5:8) but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(Luke 10:20) Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
