Quarantine self-care: how to remain sane It’s normal to experience anxiety, insomnia, sadness and despair after a few days or weeks of being cooped up at home. Here are a few tips to help ease any symptoms of depression you may feel during this period.

Urbana

Thank you to all of the first responders and essential workers for their courage, dedication and service.

Stay in touch Whether it’s via phone, text message, video chat or social media, there are many ways to connect with loved ones while you’re in quarantine. Use them. Besides, the pandemic is a good reason to reach out to old friends. During these stressful times, they’ll likely appreciate the distraction. If you’re working from home, make sure to schedule virtual meetings with your clients and co-workers. This will help create a sense of normalcy and keep up morale.

THANK YOU to all the essential workers everywhere and especially those on our Edenton team for keeping our residents and clients safe and cared for.

Take care of yourself Focus on maintaining your physical health as well as your mental health. Wash your hands often, eat balanced meals, drink lots of water, exercise daily and get enough sleep. Additionally, remember to laugh. Lighten the mood at home by watching a comedy, listening to a funny podcast or reading a silly comic book.

Seek help If you’re in self-isolation, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re alone. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the resources available to you. This includes reaching out to health professionals and dedicated volunteers who are just a phone call or a keyboard click away.

Essential news. Especially now. Accurate, well-reported news and community information is always essential. Now, the news can be life-saving. We’re proud of how the staff of The Frederick News-Post has responded to the COVID-19 crisis. Whether working from home or still coming to our plant for essential production and delivery work, News-Post employees have stepped up to provide Frederick County the coverage and delivery we all need at this uncertain time. It’s a team effort: •T hanks to the reporters, editors and photographers who make sense of this rapidly changing crisis, and who bring us daily the stories of people making a difference. •T hanks to the advertising staff, working harder than ever to help local businesses get their stories out at this time of enormous financial difficulty for so many. • Thanks to the crews in production, whose jobs require them to leave their families and come to the plant to print not just our paper, but dozens of other daily, weekly and monthly publications serving the whole region. • Thanks to the circulation department, from the ones who field your phone calls to the ones working every night to make sure your paper arrives at your home every morning.

And thanks to you, members, for your support. We can’t do it without you.
