EXPERIENCE FREDERICTON!
Historic Garrison District
Nature
Adventures & edVentures!
The wrought iron gate of the Historic Garrison District welcomes you to the Soldiers’ Barracks and the Barracks Fine Craft Shops. Guided tours leave City Hall twice daily with a third tour daily from the Guard House in Barracks Square, often ending at the Changing of the Guard ceremony in Officers’ Square. Interact, learn, and challenge yourself at the NB Sports Hall of Fame. The Fredericton Region Museum, Guard House, A Day in a Soldiers’ Life, and Haunted Hike will make your day a memorable one!
Explore Fredericton by GPS with NB’s largest bilingual Geocaching Tour! Treasure seeking leads you through the hidden culture, heritage, and nature gems of the city. Take the garden tours at the Fredericton Botanic Garden, or visit Odell Park, a perfect place for picnics and visit the Odell Arboretum showcasing the NB Species Collection...some of the trees are more than 400 years old! Water fun? Join us at Wilmot and Killarney Lake Parks. Our beautifully landscaped parks have something for everyone!

Step Back in Time
River
Beaverbrook Art Gallery
Step into Fredericton’s past! Tour City Hall’s woven tapestries, the Clockworks, and Freddy “the little nude dude”. The steeple of Christ Church Cathedral (1845) dots the riverfront skyline in Gothic Revival style. Along with Government House (1828) and the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly (1882), all are still in use today with guided tours daily. Boss Gibson’s Marysville is marked by the looming brick cotton mill and row houses. Operating until the 1970’s, the mill is now home to government offices. History comes to life at Kings Landing Historical Settlement, just a 20 minute drive from downtown!
Gently winding through the centre of the city, the majestic St. John River is alive with activity in the summer months. Stroll “The Green” pass the Lighthouse on The Green to the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge. Our former train bridge is now the longest pedestrian bridge in the world! Cross to Carleton Park and watch boats launch and enjoy the beautiful river sunset! Whether by kayak, canoe, guided boat cruise, or from the bank, you are sure to be delighted!
Celebrate the wonder and magic of the visual arts! Until September 14, a dynamic series of exhibitions includes; Off the Grid: Abstract Painting in New Brunswick, focused on the presence, nature and meaning of non-representational or abstract painting, the work of Eric Atkinson, exhibited in tandem with an exhibition of British modern art from his personal collection and from the Gallery’s own permanent collection, and Four Turns of a Key highlights the metalwork of Saint John silversmith Elma Johnston McKay. The Gallery’s permanent collection and works on loan to the Gallery are present. 506-458-2028, beaverbrookartgallery.org
