Playing an instrument can help you learn to be more alert. It stimulates the brain and helps improve memory. Whether you pick up a guitar, a set of drumsticks, or the piano, you can relax and have fun. So, how do you choose the right music academy? Look for an established music academy. Many aspiring music teachers start their own schools and after just a few years, they realize how hard it is to run a business, and they close. Look for a school
that has been in business for at least 10 years and that has an established track record. Also ask if they have received any awards for business or customer service. These are good indicators that the school is a quality institution. Ask about the director’s credentials. Lots of musicians that have never been to college start their own music studios. It’s important to choose a school that has a Director with at least a Master’s Degree in Music. If they’ve been a college professor that is also a great sign that you’re in good hands. So when doing your research be sure to ask about the Director’s credentials. Have they just been playing and teaching a long time, or do they actually have academic credentials inteaching music and have done so at the college level. Do they have a family safety plan? he average person generates more than four pounds of garbage every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste per year. While you could just throw everything away, recycling can make a big impact in Columbia. Recycling helps save natural resources, conserves water and energy and saves landfill space. In Columbia, people can recycle items like plastic bottles, aluminum cans, magazines, newspaper, steel cans, cartons, cardboard and glass. Residents of the Columbia area can now recycle more with the 95-gallon roll carts that Columbia, Richland County and Lexington County offer for the residential curbside programs. The carts help make recycling easier by being able to throw all the recycling into one container. It is great not having to sort everything anymore. However, contamination is a big problem when it comes to recycling! Contamination means that there is more than just recycling in those carts. Contamination includes non-recyclable items, food
waste, yard waste, biohazardous material and plastic bags. Contaminates can break machines at the recycling facility and workers still hand sort some material. Here are some easy steps for good, clean recycling:
