A world free of wildlife trafficking and human slavery
COMBATING CRIMES AGAINST NATURE AND HUMANITY Freeland provides direct training and technical assistance to police, customs and environmental agencies to combat poaching, illegal logging and human trafficking. Freeland helps governments form task forces, facilitate cross-border inter-agency cooperation and civil society action to tackle these crimes. Our trainers are experienced former law enforcement officers. Freeland works against the enslavement and criminal exploitation of vulnerable people. By delivering training and sharing expertise, Freeland supports the United Nations and regional programs to address human trafficking. RAISING AWARENESS AND POLITICAL WILL Freeland’s public awareness campaigns expose the roles that consumer demand and apathy play in wildlife and human trafficking, while also highlighting the threats these crimes pose to critical ecosystems and our way of life. Freeland’s campaigns have a direct message: don’t buy protected and endangered animal and plant species, don’t ignore the exploitation of human beings, and notify the authorities if you witness these crimes. Collaborations with JWT, National Geographic, CNN and other media are taking this message to millions of people around the world, changing attitudes and encouraging political leaders to act. Help us spread the word! SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES Freeland recognizes that vulnerability creates the conditions for both human and wildlife trafficking to take place and must be addressed. We help vulnerable rural communities develop plant nurseries, fish and mushroom farms, renewable energy sources and reforestation projects, making a real difference in peoples lives, while reducing the pressures on natural ecosystems.
