Competency Based Trainings
Mentoring and Validations
PROTECT has been recognized as the ASEAN regional standard and is the program of choice for government agencies seeking to upgrade their own instruction systems. FREELAND tailors each course to meet an agency’s unique needs.
Enforcement: Includes basic and team leader courses that provide rangers with the skills to safely and confidently patrol a protected area. It immerses them in mock operations, focused on first aid, navigation, arrest methods and patrols. Monitoring and Analysis: Instructs protected area managers and rangers on field navigation, wildlife survey and data collection methods, and data management.
Marine Enforcement: Focused courses for marine protected area patrolling and enforcement in costal and riverine waters. Modules on navigation, patrolling, apprehension and anti-smuggling techniques. Managers: Provides protected area managers with best practices in administration and resource management, leadership, instruction methods, threat assessments, and operational planning.
Resources Staff: FREELAND’s experienced training team includes former military personel, police, forestry staff and wildlife monitoring experts. Together they have improved the capacity of more then 2200 park staff in Asia since 2000. PROTECT Training Materials: FREELAND has developed training packages, including presentations, handouts, and maunuals for each training course. PROTECT Manuals are recognized as the regional standard by the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity and the ASEAN Wildlife Enforcement Network. Equipment: PROTECT courses provide agency staff with professional equipment to help them carry out their jobs with confidence.
“We’re learning a lot from both the instructors and from the friends we are making at the training. I’m also getting a chance to use state-of-the-art patroling equipment that will make the job of my staff easier, and safer.” - Dileep Gaonkar, Divisional Forest Officer, Bhadra Tiger Reserve India
