Appliqué 6. Pair a Fabric B OPA with a 5” (12.70cm) interfacing square, placing the Fabric B OPA right side together with the fusible side of the interfacing and pin in place. Stitch a 1⁄4” (.64cm) seam around the shape (Fig. 6).

7. Using pinking shears to reduce bulk, trim the fusible interfacing seam allowances to 1⁄4” (.64cm) and clip the points blunt. Using small sharp scissors, cut a 2” (5.08cm) slit in the center of the interfacing layer only (Fig. 7). Turn the OPA right side out through the slit and ensure that the edges and points are fully formed. The fusible side of the interfacing should now visible on the underside of the OPA shape. Fig. 7

12. Sew together the (6) 21⁄2” (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric B binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together. 13. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12” (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1 ⁄4” (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt. 15. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place.
