The group was nominated for a Grammy Award for its collaboration with blues singer, Eddy Clearwater. They also provided music for the film, Psycho Beach Party; and performed Christmas music during the holidays on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Their latest is Play The Great Instrumental Hits!!!!!!

Sticky Lips BBQ Juke Joint | Aug. 7 The soul/R&B band , The Rooks, hails from Middletown CT. They describe their sound as “equal parts kick-back, head-knock and get-down - music you rock to at a party, and the perfect sound soundtrack for the ride home.” Releases include “Twister,” “Secrets,” and “Intermission (Wires).”

Dinosaur BBQ | Aug. 5 Dynamo describes itself as “a group of musicians of all ages and backgrounds who have come together to make good music.” Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, their sound uses R&B, funk and jazz in a way unique to the band. Their live album, Live at Ocean Way, was released in 2014.

Water St. Music Hall | Aug. 5 Founded by Sascha Konietzko, KMFDM has been about electronic music since way before it was fashionable. The German group legitimized the combined use of sampled sounds, heavy guitars and disco-like beats to help accelerate the early industrial/techno movement. Their latest studio album is Our Time Will Come... Chant, a drum project out of Texas, features Bradley Bills. Singles include “Revolt” and “Need.”... Inertia tours in support of a new album, Existential. The industrial rock act is led by Reza Udhin and was formed in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s.

With his new album, The Ruffian’s Misfortune, and an autobiography, A Life... Well, Lived due out later this year, Texas singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard is said to be doing some of the best work of his 40-year career. The legendary roots artist plays an intimate show at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, August 12.

Abilene Bar & Lounge | Aug. 7 The Balkun Brothers band is fronted by Nick and Steve Balkun on drums and guitar, joined on stage by bassist Caleb Battersby. Together they are winners of the 2012 Connecticut Blues Society Duo Competition and the 2013 Massachusetts Blues Society Competition. Their recent CD is titled ReDrova... The all-female group, C’est Bon Cajun Dance Band, features Barbara Sanders on accordion, Susi Mills and Jane DeLisa on fiddle, Betsy Fuller on guitar and Evelyn Schneider on bass. Flour City Station | Aug. 11 Silencio - a tribute to the works of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti - has developed a unique sound that is described as unsettling and simultaneously familiar. The Pittsburgh-based collective draws inspirations from the dark and quirky films of David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti’s noir-jazz vignettes. Their second album, She’s Bad, was released this spring.
