AMERICAN SWIM ACADEMY

Infants to young adults can learn to swim, improve their techniques and learn poolside safety from the American Swim Academy at the Fremont location (Technology Place, off Auto Mall Pkwy) or the Newark location (Cedar Blvd., off Thornton Ave.). All camps are taught by American Swim Academy staff in indoor pools heated to 92 degrees, creating a warm, inviting environment. Camps class ratios are small and are intended for the beginner to intermediate swimmer. You must wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. Open registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 31st. No refunds will be given for cancellation after Thursday September 2nd. Contact an American Swim Academy Representative directly after this date to receive credit toward future camps at American Swim Academy. A $25 cancellation fee applies per student.

AQUATICS

Aqua Babies

Maximum 4 per camp class. This is a parent participation class and all students must be accompanied by an adult in the water. This class combines water adaptation and safety. Once comfortable in the water the child will learn safety skills, including holding his/her breath, floating, kicking and climbing out of the water. All swimmers are required to wear a swim diaper. The camps run for 30 minutes each.

Preschool

Maximum 2 students per class. The ultimate goals for our preschool swimmers are water comfort, water movement, water safety. Instructors incorporate games and positive reinforcement to get swimmers comfortable in the water. Heavy emphasis is placed on water safety. The classes run for 30 minutes each.

Beginners

Maximum 2 students per class. The ultimate goals for our beginner swimmers are water comfort, water movement and safety and to begin learning the fundamentals of freestyle. All steps are broken down for easy learning and instructors make the classes fun with games and positive reinforcement. The classes run for 30 minutes each.

Stroke Training

Stroke Training camps are for American Swim Academy graduates, students already competent in all 4 strokes and summer league swimmers. The program focuses on stroke technique and the importance of learning proper form. Students will perform drills that isolate specific fundamentals for each of the four competitive strokes. The classes run for 30 minutes each.
