Protective Measures

Protective measures may be determined by the level of disease activity of COVID-19 in the Lubbock area. The District will rely on data from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and City of Lubbock Health Department to determine the disease activity level and the appropriate protective measures.

SCREENING PROTOCOLS Self-Screening- Staff and Students • Staff will be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms prior to reporting to work each day. Self-screening should include teachers and staff taking their own temperature. • Parents/guardians are expected to screen their students for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school. • Teachers will monitor students and refer to the nurse if symptoms are present.

Self-Screening - Visitors • Visitors are expected to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before entering any Frenship facility.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS Temperature checks for staff and students may be conducted as needed. According to TEA, regularly performing a forehead temperature check of otherwise asymptomatic students in school is not recommended.

FACE COVERINGS • Executive Order GA-38 issued on July 29, 2021 states, "No governmental entity, including a county, city, school district, and public health authority, and no governmental official may require any person to wear a face covering or to mandate that another person wear a face covering". • Frenship ISD will allow individuals to wear a face covering if they choose to do so, per TEA guidance.
