Dear Frenship Community, Welcome to Frenship ISD – a special place where nearly 11,000 students, 1,300 staff members, and their families call home. We are more than just 14 campuses. We are a communitycentered district, grounded in our history, celebrating 87 years of rich traditions and achievements. It truly is an exciting time to be at Frenship. As we honor our past achievements, we are embracing and planning for a bright future. We’ve been busy this year. In the fall of 2021, we began construction on our fourth middle school, we rolled out our districtwide 1:1 technology initiative that puts technology in the hands of every Frenship student, and we launched a new strategic planning process where we collaborated with our community to set goals that will guide Frenship over the next three to five years. We haven’t done this alone. Our community, business leaders, staff, parents, and students have helped us create our road map as we plan Frenship’s future together. It’s that sense of community, eagerness to serve, and excellence in education that has built the strong foundation of our district. We are Frenship – a community, a family.

2 0 2 1 S T R AT E G I C P L A N Every five years, Frenship ISD initiates a strategic planning process to revisit and assess goals to meet the present and future needs of Frenship students and staff. With the last strategic plan set in 2016, Frenship launched a new strategic planning process in the fall of 2021. The strategic design process is a thoughtful and purposeful process that represents the collective voices of the community to plan Frenship ISD’s future together. This process provides clear direction by setting goals and specific strategies for how the district will focus its resources and serve students for the next three to five years. Over the course of six months, Frenship administrators, staff from all 14 campuses, parents, students, community members, and local business leaders participated in the strategic planning process. These groups provided valuable feedback and insight through a series of community summits, focus groups, and in-depth planning meetings.

Together, the Frenship community created the 2021 Strategic Plan to include a new call to action, learner outcomes, and six strategic goals with specific results. Based on the collaborative work of the community, the new goals center around equitable expansion, technology resources, customized learning experiences, the growth of highly effective staff, social emotional development, and the preservation of Frenship’s rich tradition of excellence while embracing change as new student enrollment climbs. A detailed timeline was also created to determine priorities and ensure staff and stakeholders are working toward the common goals and specific results. This critically important strategic plan will serve as a five-year road map, guiding the district on how to better serve our Frenship families.

1 : 1 T E C H N O LO GY During the 2021-2022 school year, Frenship ISD launched a new 1:1 student technology initiative to ensure all students across the district have equitable access to technology and digital resources. Through this program, students at all 14 Frenship campuses are provided a school-issued device to use each school year. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade are issued iPads to use in the classroom, and students in 3rd through 12th grade are issued laptops to use at school and at home. Preparing to rollout technology devices to more than 10,800 students was no small task, and the Frenship Curriculum and Instruction Department worked side-by-side with the Technology Department to launch the 1:1 initiative.

Brielle L. Bennett Elementary

In addition to securing thousands of new iPads and laptops through state and federal funding initiatives, the district upgraded the wireless network for every campus, adding 700 wireless access points to help handle the increased technology use. New security measures were put in place to ensure cybersecurity for students while using the devices on campus and at home. As teachers and instructional staff developed ways to incorporate technology for more dynamic instruction, technology staff began the process of preparing devices for use. In a matter of weeks during August 2021, staff worked together to deploy more than 2,000 devices per day to Frenship students. Through this 1:1 model, Frenship will continue to provide district-issued technology to students each school year to ensure they are equipped with the digital tools and resources needed to be successful in an ever-changing technological world.

“While one of our goals is greater digital equity among our learners, going 1:1 is so much more than just putting a device in the hands of all our students. This is about unlocking innovative learning opportunities anytime and anywhere for our learners.” Cindi Cobb Frenship ISD Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction
