UPDATED BIOMES! s a result of a public ote at Minecon, you’ll also see the Mountains biome get an update. At this point, it’s too e rly to say exactly what’s changing, but u can expect it to look more like mountains a d be populated by an entirely new mob: t e cliff-dwelling goat! Mountains have been an uninterestin biome for too long, and that’s about to change! NEW BLOCKS! Amongst the new blocks being added in this update, you can expec to see the target block. This new type redstone trigger outputs a redstone sig al based on how close to the centre an arrow hits it. Target practice blocks will be added further down the line too – if nothing else, there are several new Combat is being updated

The wait for Minecraft Dungeons after it was announced literally more than tremely tough, but it’s almost ver as it’s due out in April 020! Dungeons will see you guide new characters throug a set of randomly gener ted dungeons based on Minecraft, with new mobs, new locations and new items. Your g al? To control of the Overworld using the Orb of Dominance! It’s the second new Minecraft pin-off in as many years and one that looks like it’s going to provide hours of fun. Expect to see a tonne of information about it in the next few months and, of rse, the usua se ec on o n s, tips and guides from us!

In case you’d forgotten, Minecraft Realms is the online component of Minecraft where yo can pay to host a server that es on the nternet so you an yo r r en s can visit it at the same time, regardless of which of ou is online and playing. It’s been a while since anything change on there, but Realms Plus will be a new subscription tier, which, in addition to giv ng you a standard ten-pe son realm, ill allow you to access more n 50 pieces of content available on the Minec aft Marketplace at no extra cost. Minecraft Earth alread has some exclusive blocks, and one mud: a semi-transparent bloc that can slow down mobs (and affect pigs – as you’ll ﬁnd out in below). You can use a bucket to collect and move mud, and ckets of mud can also be collected as tappables. Beware, though – if you place a mud s urce oc next to water, it wi get washed away forever!

As well as a tonne of standard mobs, there a few you can only ﬁnd in this game. The rarest is the Epic-level Muddy Pig, which is covered in mud and as a tulip stuck on its head. T e onl way to ﬁnd one is to collect from pig tappable, although if yo convi ce a regular pig to enter m d it will turn into a muddy pig, a d late dry out. The only difference betwe n a normal pig and a muddy pig is that they like mud more and ill se rch for it on buildplates!

HOW TO FIND DIAMONDS

At t e moment, the only plac you can ﬁnd rarer items, incl ding diamonds, is in ad ntures – look for the lar e bea s pointing into the air fro the map screen and he d for those. Make sure to explore the ven ure area comp e ely, as t e diamonds will be hidden dee beneath the surface. Remember to use your iron tool to harvest them!

Emeralds themselves can be obtained in many places – you c n ra e ems w villagers, ﬁnd them in a number of chests, or mine them directly om ore found beneath mountains. Emerald ore is only found in single-block ins, and these can r diamond pickaxe to produce one emeral .

One invent ry slot can contain 64 emera ds, but if you craft the emeralds into bl cks ﬁrst, the in 576 emeralds as a stack of 64 emeral bloc s. They can also be used decoration, having a unique gr en colour an pa ern. They can be pla ed as art of beacons (more on that opposite!) too. Finally, in the J a and Bedrock Editions, they can be placed beneath “ ” instrument sound.

Emerald blocks can b used to construct and power eacons. When you build a bea on, it has to consist of at least nine s s a a ed in a horizontal square, with a beacon block placed on the centre one. This is a onelevel beacon. Beacons can be furt er expanded into pyrami s of up to four levels. The bas of a four-level beacon is 9 blocks, o owe y a eve on op of that, then a 5x5 lev l, and ﬁnally a 3x3 level on e very top. A full-size beacon takes 164 resource blocks to build. So to build a full-size beacon out of just emeralds, u’d need to collect 1,476 e eralds, ld 164 emerald blocks. Howe er, this is purely an issue of coration – building a beacon out of emeralds doesn’t change how it acts, only how it loo s. You’re free to mix and match emerald, gold, iron and diamon blocks!

Seventeen months into a Mars mission that was set to discover if humans could survive on the red planet, the Tenth Doctor arrives at Bowie Base One and is captured by Captain Adelaide Brooke, who is heading up the project. Unfortunately, certain crew members at the site have been infected with a virus, and the whole place has to be destroyed. One thing all taverns hav is a sign with a picture outside the front oor so people can recognise the place om far away. With and paintings, you can hang one outside too! We’ve decorated the exterior walls of our tavern with white concret wood to give it an aged, edieval look. You could make yours more odern if you like: instead of a cosy old place, you could make a sleek new one!
