PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Friends and Members,
Hard to believe it feels like only yesterday we were in the middle of our summer season, and now, with fall upon us, we are entering the final months of what has been a remarkable 2024. As I look back on this summer we’ve shared, I am filled with pride for all that we have accomplished together at Fresh Meadow Country Club. It has been an extraordinary year, and I am deeply honored to serve as your president during such a pivotal time in our club’s history.
This season has exceeded our expectations, thanks in large part to the dedication and leadership of our
General Manager, Edward Leonard, CMC, and Assistant Manager, Cesar Carrillo, along with their exceptional teams. Their unwavering commitment to providing outstanding hospitality and creating unforgettable events has transformed our club into a place where every visit is memorable not just to the membership, but to our guests as well.
The recent Ladies’ Member -Guest and the Men’s Invitational continue to be the talk of the club, with members recounting the exceptional experiences they had. In fact, I heard from one of our members who attended a wedding at GOC and overheard guests marveling about the "wow factor" at our Ladies’ event. It’s moments like these that make FMCC truly special and what we strive for.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to our Golf Course Superintendent, Joe Gardner, and his team, whose tireless efforts have kept our golf course and practice facilities in impeccable condition. It is always great as a member to witness the awe of our guests as they experience playing and enjoying the challenge of our course. As we head into the off-season, Joe and his team are preparing for our bunker and tee project, ensuring that the course will be even better for the 2025 season.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to Danny Balin and his staff, who have been outstanding in providing lessons, managing all the tournaments, and ensuring that every moment spent at the club is enjoyable. Your continued appreciation for our staff speaks volumes and truly acknowledge their tireless dedication.
Looking ahead, I am excited to share that we are making
significant progress with Pembroke and Ives on the Fresh Meadow Country Club “Master Plan”. This master plan represents a long-overdue refresh of our clubhouse and will position us for growth, both in membership and in the future of our club. Ed and his management team, along with the board, are diligently working to plan and meet the needs of tomorrow, as we look forward to offering our diverse, growing membership an extraordinary and unique experience. We anticipate being able to share with the membership the thoughts and renderings in early spring, and I am confident that we will make FMCC an even more remarkable place for all members going forward.
Additionally, I am proud to announce that the Board of Governors now includes six women who play an integral role in our planning and future. This collaborative approach has strengthened our leadership. and by having them on the board, we have determined that there is no longer a need for a separate Women’s Board. We will have separate women’s committees that will report to the BOG and Ed while working closely with club management to ensure we exceed expectations in all that we do.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible season, and for your continued commitment to our club. Together, we look forward to an even brighter future at Fresh Meadow Country Club. As always, we look to our membership to continue to bring like-minded members as applicants to the club, so if you have anyone that you think would be interested, please reach out to either myself or Howard Hershenhorn, our Admission Chairman.
One last note, there seems to be a younger golfer out there, who is going around to all the “Jewish clubs” around the country and doing a review on Instagram of the course and facilities. We strongly ask you that if you are asked by him or someone who knows him about wanting to come to play Fresh Meadow, you decline that invitation.
Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at smarvin@olmsteadinc.com
Warm regards,
Steve Marvin, President
GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE
Dear Fresh Meadow Country Club Members,
I hope this message finds you well and in great spirits as we embrace the vibrant autumn season. It is with immense pleasure that I share some updates and new announcements regarding our beloved Fresh Meadow Country Club.
First, I want to express gratitude for your continued support and membership. We value all our members and strive daily to make the club a special place. The team and I
EDWARD G. LEONARD
As our membership evolves with younger families, a New York City demographic, and our changing local community membership we are committed to ensuring that everyone can fully enjoy all that Fresh Meadow Country Club has to offer.
We are constantly working to create events and dining that cater to the interests of all members. As the landscape in many ways changes for events, dinners, and other F&B offerings, the one thing that will not is the club being quality- driven in all we do , complimented by are committed to our club’s values, traditions, and the changing future as we evolve and look to build the
foundation of what is yet to come.
Labor Day events were a success. Friday night our lobster & crab fest by the pool kicked off the weekend, Sunday, our celebration of America, then Labor Day with over 300 members and their families enjoying our indoor kid’s playground, a great BBQ and more. The ladies member guest was embraced with stellar weather and our members, and their guest s were greeted with a first-class European-style breakfast held in the valet area and putting green. The day was filled with many amenities and an outstanding lunch featuring a 48foot Mediterranean bar.
The men’s invitational also had weather made for days of golf. Opening night event with an NFL football lounge, food and presentations over two days that left all guests taking photos, videos and m any conversations about how we roll at Fresh Meadow Country Club.
outstanding hospitality based on our four steps of service.
The future of Fresh Meadow is promising as we are currently at 310 members. Our early spring and fall shoulder seasons are busier than ever, and much is planned as we move forward.
Halloween and Thanksgiving promise to be holidays that will create family memories from the food, special touches like the Thanksgiving Football Lounge on the terrace, and a spooktacular family Halloween event.
Thank you once again for being a vital part of our Fresh Meadow family. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to creating more memorable experiences together!

Edward Leonard, CMC, General Manager / COO
ASSISTANT MANAGER'S MESSAGE
Dear Members,
It feels like just yesterday we were preparing to open the pool and brainstorming ideas for a spectacular opening party. We kicked off the season with our White Party, featuring a dance floor over the pool, fantastic food, and great music. Our team, fresh from Florida, immersed themselves in training and our four steps of member service. With time running short and under the strong leadership of our General Manager, Ed Leonard, we successfully met our goals and expectations. It wasn’t always easy, but through hard work, we launched the season in vibrant style.
CESAR CARRILLO
While attendance for our "Wine and Dine" series wasn’t as high as in previous years, we still delivered the toptier standards we promised. Our major holidays saw record numbers, with Mother’s Day hosting 700 guests for brunch and dinner. The Billy Joel and Elton John Night was another highlight. We transformed the Main Dining Room into a NY lounge, and by the end of the night, guests were dancing and enjoying themselves.
Despite challenging weather limiting some opportunities to showcase our capabilities, we made the most of
events like Babe’s Day and Poolside Lobster Nights. Many may not realize that after the last guest leaves, a dedicated team works late into the night to ensure the pool or main dining room is ready for the next day as if nothing had happened.
Our Sunday BBQs were consistently well-attended, and I particularly enjoyed these gatherings, as they provided a chance to reconnect with members I hadn’t seen in a while. The Ladies Member Guest event was another standout; our team put on their thinking caps and delivered a well-executed, memorable experience. The Men’s Invitational, a three-day
event was also a great success.
Through dedication and teamwork, we upheld the high standards expected by our General Manager. I want to express my gratitude to Ed Leonard, the board, and the executive committee for allowing us the opportunity to serve you and for another unforgettable summer |at FMCC.
Warm regards,
Cesar Carrillo, Assistant General Manager

LADIES' BOARD PRESIDENT MESSAGE
Dear Fellow Members,
Fall has met us with the most beautiful weather of the season! We have enjoyed another memorable summer. The Ladies Mah Jong & Canasta Party and Ladies Golf Member Guest were both over the top!
There is much more to come Football Sundays and Brunch, Friday Night Dinners, and Family Halloween Party.
Join us for Girlfriends Day!
This will be my last letter as Ladies Board President. As I mentioned in a prior letter, six women now serve on the Board of Governors, Jennifer Hoine, Stacey Bennett, Jill Lamoretti, Nancy Lane, Jane Zimmerman and myself. Therefore, the Ladies Board has been retired, and each committee that comprised the Ladies Board will be represented by one of the women on the BOG.
I wish to thank all the women who have worked tirelessly on the Ladies Board over all these past years, for their dedication to the best for our members and our club. It has been my honor to serve as Ladies Board President and is my honor to serve on the Board of Governors.
Warm regards for a wonderful winter, Helen Solomon, Board of Governors
To say it was a beautiful day would not begin to explain it. It was that day when the end of summer intersects perfectly with the start of fall.

LADIES' GOLF CHAIRS MESSAGE
This summer was hot, making it more challenging to play golf. But in FMCC fashion, Doug, his crew, and all the staff made sure cold towels, extra water, and beverages were available to keep us as cool as possible. The women enjoyed some new tournaments, which included “color code.” Thank you, Ben,
for introducing this format to the ladies at FMCC. Everyone really enjoyed it, and we can’t wait to see it again on the calendar next year!
Our much-anticipated Ladies’ Member-Guest on September 10th with the theme, “The Last Rose of Summer,” was a real showstopper. The day was filled with everything from roses to Rosé.
Our closing tournament, Queen of the Green, was on September 17th
and the Fall Down Classic on September 24th which was also a hit. While these were our last two scheduled tournaments, we hope to continue seeing everyone on the course while the weather remains mild.
Thank you so much to Danny Balin and his staff for another great season of women’s
golf events.
A special shout out to Ben Franjione for being our point person and helping with everything related to ladies’ golf. Of course, we must thank Doug Grant for all his hard work coordinating the weekly tee times and Joe Gardner for keeping our course in tip-top shape.
If you have any suggestions for new tournaments or the ladies’ golf program, please feel free to contact us.
Hit them long and straight,
Nancy Strassberg and Tina Cohen Ladies' Chair and Co-chair
