PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you and your family in good health. It is with mixed emotions that I write my final Off The Tee submission, while I will remain on the Executive Board as Immediate Past President, my tenure as President will soon come to an end.

I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to the Past Presidents, my Executive Board, the Board of Governors, and each and every one of you for your unwavering support. It has been an absolute privilege and honor to serve as your President, and I am humbled by the trust and confidence you have placed in me throughout this journey.

As a unified and dedicated membership, we embarked on several transformational projects that have genuinely elevated our golf club to new heights. One of our most notable achievements was completing our new state-of-theart driving range and golf practice facility. This endeavor required a tremendous amount of work and collaboration from all of us, and the resulting facilities have undoubtedly enhanced the overall FMCC experience and our club's reputation. We should all be very proud that we built these facilities, along with our new Pickleball courts, by self-funding them and incurring no additional debt on the club.

Looking back at the last two years, I am delighted to commend our collective efforts in recruiting and employing a superstar Executive Chef and then hiring him as our General Manager. Ed Leonard is smart, hard-working, loyal, and enthusiastic and has proven to be an exceptional leader. His extraordinary talents and unwavering commitment to the membership have elevated not only our dining experience but has put our fiscal house in order and elevated every aspect of

our club. Together with his extraordinarily dedicated and homegrown Assistant General Manager, Cesar Carrillo, and our entire management team (as highlighted in my last Off The Tee column), they will continue to provide the leadership that makes our club so strong.

I am incredibly proud to share that our membership has witnessed unprecedented growth. I am also thrilled that our membership is in such high demand that we have been on a waiting list and have been able to obtain the most initiation for new members in over a decade and a half. There are multiple reasons for this growth. In addition to what we have accomplished together, it is, most importantly, our rich history, extraordinary golf course and clubhouse facilities, and one-of-a-kind culinary experience. I especially salute the efforts of our Admissions Chair and Club Vice President, Steve Marvin, who has enhanced our membership ranks through his unwavering commitment to the future of our club. In short, Steve has led the effort, bringing in like-minded and philanthropic new members. We are so fortunate to have him step into the role of President, as his keen business acumen, leadership skills, and love for our club will most certainly ensure FMCC’s continued success.

Last year's amendment to our bylaws, which allowed for the equal appointment of women to the Board of Governors, was long overdue, and I am thrilled that we successfully brought about this meaningful change. It aligns with our vision of having a diverse and inclusive Board that represents all members of our community.

None of these achievements would have been possible without the relentless support and active engagement of each member, both on and off the course. Your

enthusiastic involvement has fostered a strong sense of belonging, making FMCC a cherished place for all.

As we approach our 104th year and with our current mortgage payments set to roll off in one year, I, as President, along with my fellow Executive Board members and the Board of Governors, believe that it is our responsibility as stewards of the club to update the long-range plan to continually enhance and maintain our club for years to come.

As you know, to support this vision, we engaged the services of the McMahon Group, a leading professional consulting firm specializing in strategic and capital planning for private country clubs. They have worked with us during prior renovations and have proven highly experienced and insightful. They will assist us in developing our long-term capital plan, starting with

gathering data from you through the comprehensive survey. You already have the survey, and if you haven’t completed it, please do so carefully, as your considered response is vital to plan for the future correctly.

In conclusion, it is with immense gratitude that I thank you for your unwavering support, friendship, and trust during my presidency. We have collectively achieved remarkable milestones and made unforgettable memories that will forever be etched in the history of FMCC. I do not doubt that our club will continue to prosper with your continuous support.

I am wishing you all an abundance of happiness, success, and memorable experiences with family and friends at our beloved FMCC.

GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE

Dear Fresh Meadow Country Club Members,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits as the summer comes to an end. It is with great pleasure that I share some thoughts, updates, and announcements regarding our Fresh Meadow Country Club.

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and membership. We value our members and work hard to ensure the club feels like a home away from home. Your passion for the club's values and traditions, along with embracing and welcoming our new members and families, is truly inspiring. Last Sunday, we welcomed many families to a Labor Day event that featured an inside children’s playground with activities that was well attended. Parents were happy to have the playground inside and not outside with the grueling heat we had.

As our membership demographics continue to evolve the team and I are working hard to ensure all members enjoy the club to the fullest. We plan to always have something for everyone and manage the calendar to meet the ebbs and flow of the club.

Here are some key highlights and developments you can look forward to:

Renovations and Enhancements

We are starting to discuss and look at what is needed in the clubhouse and can be done as we move forward for the next chapter of Fresh Meadow Country Club. We are sending a survey out within the next week, and your feedback, thoughts, and support are imperative. We plan to continue having extraordinary membership amenities, a new look and continue to improve our club.

New Dining Experience

We have been thrilled to introduce new events and concepts for our member dining experience and

pleasure. The new pool café menu was met with much success and good feedback. The Friday night dinners have been at full capacity every Friday embraced by special menus, themedmenuswithalacarte service as the popular French Night & Mediterranean Seafood Night. The Sunday BBQs and events top last season with attendance and the family friendly culture has us seeing many new members and families enjoying the club. Whether you'relookingforanintimatedinner, a family brunch, or a casual drink with friends, dining at our club is a great choice and we will continue to work hard cater to your every need.

Exciting Events

The season may be changing, and fall is upon us, but Fresh Meadow Country Club has got our members covered with some amazing events! Join us for a memorable Bingo Night, Beatles Tribute with dinner in the Compton Meadow British Grill, a great show in our British Party Lounge, one awesome Spooktacular Family Halloween Brunch and so much more. These are events you don't want to miss. Reserve now by calling the Front Desk at 516-482-7300 to secure your spot. Get ready for an exciting calendar of events designed to cater to a wide range of interests. From themed parties to exclusive member-only gatherings, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We are also planning special events to celebrate holidays and milestones throughout the year.

Staff and Member Services

We are committed to improving the overall member experience. Our staff this season has been receiving hospitality training and understands the importance of the hospitality culture we are building at the club. They receive follow-up and guidance so we can provide our members with the best service possible. I welcome your feedback and suggestions as we strive to meet and exceed your expectations in the 2024 season and are now planning what we can do better.

Labor and quality labor remains a challenge but are proud of the team this season and each person has worked hard and has been part of what we are trying to accomplish.

Community

We understand the importance of fostering a sense of community within our club. Look forward to more events, family-oriented gatherings and social activities that bring us all closer together as the Fresh Meadow community.

Sustainability Initiatives

We are in discussions for 2024 to make our club ecofriendlier and more sustainable. From reducing our carbon footprint to conserving water, we are

I welcome suggestions and concerns that will guide our team’s ongoing efforts to enhance your club experience. While we cannot do everything that is requested, we do take all feedback and listen then rely on solid data and numbers to assist us in making the best decision for the membership as a whole and always will. Hospitality, the member experience is what drives us in all we do.

In conclusion, I want to emphasize that our commitment to excellence and making Fresh Meadow County Club a special place remains unwavering. We are dedicated to providing you with a country club experience that is second to none and is in “our space” not others. Please feel free to reach out to our dedicated staff or myself should you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns.

committed to improving and preserving the beauty of the property at Fresh Meadow Country Club while ensuring our surroundings and the club are here for generations to come.

Communication and Feedback

Your input matters greatly to us. The club hired McMahon and partners to assist us in generating a master plan for the club moving forward along with a survey as I have mentioned so this plan takes into account our members thoughts and wants while we build and plan the future. On a daily operational basis,

Thank you once again for being a valued member of Fresh Meadow Country Club. We look forward to sharing many memorable moments with you in the coming year. Together, we will make this club an even more remarkable place to be.

Wishing you all the best and looking forward to seeing you at the club soon.

ASSISTANT MANAGER'S MESSAGE

I've had the privilege of witnessing many changes at the club throughout theyears. While it maybe true that the bustling Labor Day crowds of 500 guests are a thing in the past, our commitment to personalized, exceptional service has not diminished. Whether we're hosting 150 or 500 members, our passion and dedication to elevating our members’ experience remains thesame.Ithasbeenapleasuretowelcome so many new members and their families. Seeing everyone enjoy the club, member's kids young and old having a great time is whatFreshMeadowCountryClubisabout.

This year, we had an immensely talented team that worked really hard the entire summer. Each and every one of them has given 100% , including all our supervisors such as Rosi Zanela, our Restaurant Coordinator, who with a great smile and exceptional demeanor, truly rises to the occasion consistently making our members feel at home. Cris Reyno, our Bar and Beverage Manager, who is a people-charmer, is always elevating the experience with new and trending drinks and specialties from her own creation. With great attention to detail and innovation, she plays a key role at our club.

Yegen Maartens, our Event Floor Manager, arrived from Florida last May, and has emerged as an integral part of our team, significantly contributing to the achievement of our goals by displaying great leadership. Chelka Andrada, our Member Dining Captain, who skillfully oversees operations in the Grill Room while also coordinating a variety of member events at the same time. Ibrahim Yildirin, our Banquet Manager, is the indispensable cornerstone of our banquet team.

He always remains positive despite the demanding workload and extended hours with every set up. Kate Tan Pian, our Pool Captain, came from Florida as well and assumed the critical responsibility of overseeing the pool facilities. She executed her duties with exceptional skills and leadership. Chef Jason Griffith's delivered a new menu and made the cafe a great place for lunch. Jose, our Valet Manager, who endures both freezing cold and extreme heat outdoors, still maintains an exceptional attitude and a warm smile every time. Plus, he has a knack

for surprising you with playful pranks when you least expect it.

Sharon Octavio at the Front Desk, with a great smile always attentive and willing to help everyone. Carlos Rios, Mauricio Flores, Valter Ardo, Ana Molina and Loida Elliott, our House team, are diligently working in the background making sure that our events are executed to perfection and that our club maintains an impeccable appearance. The culinary team continues to rise no matter the event, the innovation that is put forth that drives all we do at Fresh Meadow Country Club. We have a great team of cooks and of course our lead chefs. Executive Chef Phil Castro and Executive Sous Chef Oshaine Shepherd work hard to guide the team and make it happen. Pastry Chef Alejandra Cuneo and Pastry Sous Chef Sowon Rhee make the sweet side very special for our members. The glue that holds us together is our General Manager, Ed Leonard. His road map doesn’t just guide us, it inspires us. Because of his philosophy, we now know where we are going and also why and how we can get there. This entire team is resilient, innovative and diligent, not just as team members but also an important part of the Fresh Meadow Family.

As the sun sets on yet another unforgettable summer season at Fresh Meadow Country Club, I can't help but look back with the sense of deep gratitude and fulfillment that the club has given to us. From all the member and private events, and from Sunday Family BBQ s to the intimate Friday Night dinners, it has been a season of joy and challenges. I can confidently say that this has been one the best seasons at the club.

I want to extend my sincerest thanks to each and every member for their continued support and for helping us cultivate an environment where families connect and lasting memories are made. While the leaves may be turning brown and the air growing crisp, we will continue on working harder to deliver the best member experience during the winter months with multiple events. I wish you all a pleasant and enriching fall and winter season.

Cheers to a truly remarkable summer!

LADIES' BOARD PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Dear Fellow Members,

The summer has come to a close. We have had an exceptionally successful season! We had Ladies Opening Day with record participation, Friend’s Golf Day, “A Taste of the Almafi Coast” Card Party, “Toast To Tennis” Member Guest, “Barbie” Golf Member Guest, and “Counterfeit” Book Club luncheon with designer desserts in line with the theme of the book.

Most of all, our Babe’s Against Cancer Day! I would like to recognize the Babe Committee for their tireless commitment to this most worthy cause, especially co-chairs Freddi Kadden and Judy Liman, and committee members Sandy Seltzer, Lana Bakhash, Ellen Grossman, Ilene Schuman, and Shari Isacowitz. I extend my gratitude to those who donated raffles and

bought raffle tickets, and big thanks to those who purchased an ad in the Journal or donated in your own way. Through all our efforts, we will make a difference in the fight against cancer. Fresh Meadow will be sponsoring five rooms at The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, which provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers.

Congratulations to Claudia Josebachvili on the Ladies Club Championship win!

There is still so much to enjoy this fall: Football Sundays at the club, Sunday Brunch, Girlfriends Day, Oct 19th, Halloween fun with the kids, and Beatles tribute night.

Have a happy and healthy winter season, Helen Solomon, Ladies' Board President

The Fresh Meadow Babe Committee is pleased to announce, as a direct result of Fresh Meadow Babe fundraising efforts this year, where your money is going. We have raised over $200,000 and these funds will be used for two research grants, which we will have the naming rights to through the American Cancer Society. The first grant for $75,000 is earmarked for prostate cancer research project. The second grant, also for $75,000 is earmarked for breast cancer research project.

In addition to these two named research grants, Fresh Meadow will give $50,000 to support 5 rooms at the Hope Lodge in Manhattan for a full year. The Hope Lodge offers a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away. Patients staying in these 5 rooms will be welcomed with a plaque from Fresh Meadow Country Club.

Due to the extraordinary commitment and generosity from ALL of our members, we BROKE RECORDS this year! Whether it was the BABE journal, the donation of our raffle prices, the purchase of Super and Regular raffles, participation in our 50/50 cash board, or the Dior Bag Raffle we BROKE RECORDS. The attendance the day of the Babe BROKE RECORDS. Thank you to our Golfers, our Card Players, our Pickleball Players and our ladies that came for lunch as the day was the most special in BABE history.

We thank you for your patience as we chipped away at different idea to raise over $200,000 this year Babe 2023. We are so proud and grateful to all of you that have allowed us , to raise the funds, that in turn will allow our club to have a meaningful and positive impact on the lives of people struggling with a cancer diagnosis.

Cancer is a tough business but the crew at Fresh Meadow is tougher! You made a difference, and we are thanking you!

The Babe Committee would like to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of our committee member, Sandy Seltzer. Sandy produces one of the hallmarks of our "Babes Against Cancer" fundraising efforts our, "FMCC Babe Journal".

For those of you that do not know, the journal is a super, labor intensive effort that requires an enormous amount of attention to detail. Sandy puts in a tremendous amount of time and with Sandy at the helm, she gets the job done every year, flawlessly. Our journal raised close to $130,000 this year and we owe a big thank you to Sandy. Sandy has been our leader in this effort for so many years, and every year she exceeds the goals that she sets for herself, and for all of us. We are honored to highlight Sandy Seltzer’s contribution and thank her for her leadership in making the FMCC journal so successful.

We would also be remiss, if we did not thank YOU, our members for graciously and generously continuing to give your support to help our efforts to make the FMCC Babe a huge success.

With much gratitude and many thanks to all involved this year, The Babe 2023 Committee

LADIES' GOLF CHAIRS MESSAGE

As the season comes to a close, we reflect on the wonderful women’s golf events we had all summer. The season started with a bang, with over 50 women at Opening Day and then around 70 at our MemberFriend Day. Participation slowed slightly during the peak of the summer, yet members still enjoyed fabulous golf with friends every Tuesday. With school starting and everyone returning to their fall routines, participation spiked again, with almost 40 women enjoying Closing Day. This year, we have extended the ladies’ fall season to include an additional tournament on October 3rd, The Fall Down Classic. We hope to see everyone there.

A big thank you to everyone on the golf side who has

helped out with the season. Tuesdays ran very smoothly with Ben and Drew’s help. The course looked great, thanks to Joe and his staff. The game ran smoothly thanks to Doug stacking our foursomes perfectly, and lastly, a big thanks to Danny for dealing with each and every one of us.

We hope all women enjoyed the Tuesday tournaments as much as we did. Continue to play throughout the offseason, and we hope to see your smiling face next spring.

Hit them long and straight,

TENNIS MESSAGE

Dear Fresh Meadow Members,

I want to thank all the members and staff of FMCC for another wonderful season.

Over the years I have been so fortunate to share so many wonderful memories with many of you on and off the court and this summer definitely didn’t disappoint. Special thank you to all the members that came to our weekly tennis or pickleball clinics and to our special events especially Babes Against Cancer and Ladies Tennis Member Guest.

The pickleball facility at FMCC has been an absolute home run. Throughout the summer we got so many

remarkable reviews from members and guests on our brand new, state-of-the-art pickleball courts. Both Jeff and Robin (pickleball pros) have been such phenomenal addition to our FMCC family.

And speaking of family a special thank you to Gabriel, our assistant tennis pro and my dear friend, for a job well done this summer. I am happy to have all them be part of our team as we build and grow our tennis and pickleball community. I hope that all of you have healthy and happy off season and I look forward to next summer.
