BEST AUTO SHOP Auto Zone “I don’t really know what goes on underneath the hood of my car,” Fresno State senior Julie Ramirez said. “But when something needs to be replaced the people at AutoZone can be pretty helpful.” Like many college students, the only thing Ramirez knows about an engine is that it’s located under the hood. AutoZone is the place that many turn to for advice which is the reason it was voted “Best Auto Shop” by Fresno State students. AutoZone, originally coined “Auto
Shack,” first opened its doors on July 4, 1979 in Forest City, Ark. Today it has three stores in Fresno alone. AutoZone was the vision of J.R. “Pitt” Hyde III wanted to apply the “grocery store” concepts of clean, wellorganized stores, accessible products and great customer service to the automotive retail industry. “AutoZone always puts customers first! We know our parts and products. Our stores look great. We’ve got the best merchandise at the right price.” –AutoZone, Inc.
