My name is Jared Bertoni and I am currently a sophomore majoring in business marketing.

I’ve served students in ASI by sitting on university wide committees and am currently representing students as the Senator of Clubs and Organizations.

I am a great candidate for this position because I truly understand the different levels of need for students and respect them all equally. Other than ASI, I am also a member of the greek community in the Sigma Chi chapter.

My passion is simple, I am invested in serving my fellow constituents. That is my main priority and if elected I will continue to strive to do my best at it.

My name is Lizbeth De La Cruz and I am a first generation college student. I am currently a Fresno State graduate student working towards my Masters in Spanish. My career goal is to earn a PhD in Spanish to become a Spanish Professor at the university level.

I’m first generation college student. I have been part of several clubs and organizations on campus, including Club Austral in which I held office as Public Relations, Vice-President, and President. During my term in office as ASI President I want to promote student education success by creating a network of diversity and equity in where all student voices are heard throughout all of the levels of the university. I also want to create opportunities for students to expand their knowledge of other cultures besides their own in an educational environment where learning and an ongoing engagement with diversity in the student community is applied.

Over the past year, I have diligently worked to enhance ASI and to enrich your overall college experience. Under my leadership, student participation and representation on campus has increased. I have expanded ASI Programs, worked closely with various campus entities, provided new opportunities and affordable services on campus, and I have collaborated with community members on our revitalization efforts.

As Fresno State undergoes changes, and the students aspire to reach their educational endeavors, it is imperative that our students are represented by an experienced, proven and consistent student body leader; I have proven to be that leader as I have served as President, VicePresident, Secretary, Treasurer and Founder of different campus organizations. I am currently your existing ASI Senator at-large for Parking & Safety. I have had a year of experience in advocating for student and campus safety. As part of the Senate, we have passed major sexual assault resolutions to increase the security here on campus, especially at nighttime. If elected as your VP of External Affairs, I will continue to create a channel of student representation on our Senate and improve voter registration by offering incentives to students as they vote on campus for the next congressional election year. My record as an existing ASI Senator exemplifies self-driven advocacy on behalf of all of my constituents and what they have to say. I care about making sure campus opportunities are as equally distributed as possible for every one of you. I have for the past year and will definitely carry the ASI motto of students serving students.

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE My fellow Bulldogs, I am currently a junior majoring in physics and computer science under the Smittcamp Family Honors College.

I spent this year as ASI’s Senator of Resident Affairs and Senator of Student Affairs as well as the Vice Chair of the Finance Committee.

Through this and through meetings with the current Vice President of Finance I feel I have the understanding of ASI and the position needed to fill this executive position.

I am involved in the greek system as the Vice President and founding father of Alpha Sigma Phi. I enjoy long walks on the beach, financial planning, and serving students which makes me the perfect candidate, thank you.

My name is Nicole Warmerdam, and I am a sophomore here at Fresno State. I am pursuing a Business major with an emphasis in Accounting, certification in Finance, and minor in Mathematics.

I am currently a part of Beta Alpha Psi as well as an Ambassador for Sustainability for our campus. I believe I am an ideal candidate for the Vice President of Finance position due to my current education goals and prior experience. For the past two summers, I have worked as an accounting clerk where I reported on transactions, worked with budgets, and reviewed contracts. If I were elected to office, I am well prepared for the responsibility of managing student funds ensuring they are allocated in a manner that would create the largest benefits for the student population as reflected by the overall voice of the students and their goals for this campus.

Throughout my college career, I have been working for an almond firm that also grows tree fruit and manufactures organic olive oil. Being an agricultural business major has amplified my interest in the field because of how essential it is to the community and economy. As the senator of JCAST, I plan to work closely with the JCAST Student Leadership Counsel by using my resources to assist them, whether it be serving individual departments, enhancing the learning environment for agriculture students, or helping out with Ag Week. I plan to fully invest my time, resources, and commitment to this position.

I’ll not only contribute to the Agricultural department, but also be flexible enough to broaden my scope of assistance by helping out with school functions, advocate for students’ needs, be the voice for students in committees and meetings and attract positive publicity to Fresno State.

Currently serving as the president of the JCAST student leadership council, I have been a member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity, Agriculture Ambassadors, Dairy Club, Future Farmer of America state conference committee, Agriculture Business Club, “Where’s the Food Without the Farmer” and Phi Mu fraternity.

I would like the opportunity to serve as the JCAST ASI senator because I believe that students in our college have great leadership potential, and we need more JCAST representation in our student government.

In the last year, I have had the pleasure of serving you, the students of the Craig School of Business, as your senator. I have been able to work on projects such as the Dr. Pete Mehas Memorial Grant and served as the Vice-Chair for the Academics Committee.

If re-elected, I would hope to continue the work I have begun with the Academics Committee and in improving our college.

Students in the Craig School are suffering from a lack of direction in major/option selection due to time and advising restrictions. If reelected, I hope to work with the Academics Committee to improve the Dog Days orientation for our students to help them succeed in our college and graduate in four years. I also want to bring greater networking opportunities to students within our college and our community. I hope to serve you all again on the senate floor next year.

ARTS AND HUMANITIES Daniel Townsend

I have involved myself in a variety of activities since coming to Fresno State, including Alternative Spring Break, the Fresno State Sustainability Project and the Council of President’s Scholars.

As senator, I would like to collaborate with the dean and associate dean to continue the wonderful programs already in place, but at the same time enhance them with increased community outreach to inform local students about the importance of a well-rounded humanities education, as well as more explicit collaboration between the departments of the College of Arts and Humanities in terms of students -- not just faculty. Arts and humanities are meant to analyze and express the human experience in a creative way, and I would like to do whatever I can to foster that creativity.

The students of Fresno State are as talented as they are diverse, a unique community that I am honored to be a part of. This community has given me the opportunity to serve as the current publishing coordinator and social and membership committee vice chair of Phi Alpha Delta, pre-law fraternity, which has enhanced my creative and innovative abilities that will be instrumental in gaining recognition for the College of Arts and Humanities.

As a philosophy, pre-law major, critical thinking and analytical skills are a necessity and will be used to directly benefit the constituents of this college. SOCIAL SCIENCES Courina Hughes

Awareness of the social sciences is vital to understanding life. These concepts are outlined in various disciplines and are flourishing daily in the world around us. I have lived in Fresno my entire life, and my experiences within the community have enriched my perspective as I pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminology. Having been involved in many clubs and organizations on and off campus, I have further developed an ambitious, passionate, and perceptive outlook to address the complexity of human social life. Expanding awareness of the various disciplines within the College of Social Sciences will be a true benefit to the diverse student body. Bringing clubs and organizations together and proposing more specialty courses in the area of social sciences will lead to a greater enrichment of knowledge within each field, as well as garner additional prospective students.

KREMEN SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Felicity Troupe

Education for both students and teachers is my passion, and I want to see Fresno State students succeed in reaching their career goals. One of my priorities is seeing that students in Kremen graduate as the most prepared and the most qualified for their jobs in education and counseling. I believe that our nation needs a generation of highly qualified teachers to help get our education system back on track, and think ASI can be part of the solution.

My goals in ASI are to push for Fresno State faculty to be more qualified as teachers, for Kremen to open an honors program, and for Kremen to engage more undergraduate students in ongoing research.

SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS

Levi Landon

As a student at Fresno State, I have had the pleasure of being a part of myriad organizations on and off campus including the Bulldog Pantry, Alternative Spring Break and most recently as a Campus Involvement Ambassador in the University Student Union. Through my interactions with other students as an ambassador, it has come to my attention that there is a fundamental disconnect between the clubs in the College of Social Sciences and the students therein. As your senator, I hope to facilitate relations between students within the College of Sciences and the clubs and organizations that represent it on campus. Furthermore, I would act as a liaison between the professors and administrators of the college and the students, as well as an advocate for your educational needs.

Tyler Wilson

Being the incumbent for the ASI senator for the College of Science and Mathematics, I have not only had the ability to work with my college, but been able to really see what ASI is all about. Throughout my first term, I have advocated for student voices with respect to teacher evaluation forms and have been meeting consistently with the dean and department chairs to make sure student issues are being heard. In my next term, if elected I hope to continue to bring awareness to student issues, work to continue ASI funding to benefit students and work on the community revitalization efforts in the El Dorado Park neighborhood surrounding Fresno State.

I have been a part of Project Impact 4 Life, which brought awareness of cigarette smoke and the dangers it brings and numerous other community events here in the Central Valley. My goal if elected is to help bring awareness to health and safety issues on campus, increase communication between the campus and the student body and always be the voice of the student ensuring you are heard in all campus matters.

I am running for re-election because I have a passion for being a representative voice for my peers, and I hope to continue being that voice in the coming year. My main goal is advocating that student fees truly get returned to students through ASI events that serve their distinct interests. I’ve been involved in a lot of things at Fresno State— everything from the Engineering Without Borders club to working for the Smittcamp Honors College office. However, my favorite involvement experience thus far has been serving as an ASI Senator this past semester. I work hard for my fellow Bulldogs, and will continue to provide them with a fun and memorable college experience.

Currently I am a member of Phi Mu fraternity, and I am a part of the One-on-One Exchange Program through the Craig School of Business, studying at the Berlin School of Economics and Law. As Fresno State grows each year, I would like to promote more diversity on campus. Students should be more actively encouraged to get involved through the many different organizations that we have to provide. Also, I would like to help with promoting student safety on campus because every student deserves to feel safe while on campus, day or night.

Resilience, diligence and being able to continuously work with vigilance is what makes a great person into an even better staff member. By becoming a representative for the student population, I can strongly affirm you that I will be a great advocate for this position. My focus, if elected as senator at-large would be the voice of reason -- not only to educate the students of Fresno State, but to also communicate with them on what exactly they want fixed or changed. I can’t promise that every issue will be changed, but I can promise that I will do my best to make sure that every issue will be addressed and that every voice will be heard.

I am currently apart of Phi Mu Fraternity and work part time with Teaching Fellows. I would love the opportunity to serve as an ASI senator at-large because I want to strengthen my own leadership skills and let my peers know that our student body can make a change. During my term, I would like to push pre-med and pre-law to become minors. I would also like to inform students of volunteer and leadership opportunities on campus and provide them with the knowledge of how beneficial getting involved can be. I also want students to feel that they matter – help them feel safe and let them know they have someone to talk to on campus.

I love studying the law and want a job where I can help those in need that couldn’t help themselves when they needed to. I love school and being involved. In high school, I was captain of the academic decathlon team, MVP of the tennis team, in Jazz Band, Drama, and volunteered at different organizations. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, am an active member of the Delta Zeta sorority and hopefully will become a senator at Fresno State. There are many things I want to accomplish as a senator. Some of these are providing more ways for students to be informed, interested and involved in current events and clubs around campus.

Additionally, I want to be a voice for those who want to speak up, but don’t have the opportunity.

@JesseOfTheNews I was barely awake during my 6 a.m. drive down Highway 41 on my way to Fulton Mall, still cursing at my alarm clock. The sun, still only sending a faint glow across the morning sky, acted as a painful reminder that my office chair was probably still warm from last night’s work.

In my world, balance is more often found in a coffee cup. But this past Friday, caffeine free, I tried yoga for the first time.

As I walked through the Fulton Mall, the Pacific Southwest Building, standing in all its dimly lit magnitude, had a certain charm to it.

Going up the elevator and down hallways past empty offices felt like a Downtown revitalization commercial.

When we entered the yoga room—an office space unused for some time—I realized that the view alone was worth the trek.

The morning light started to illuminate Downtown Fresno, and I looked from above at Fresno sights that I’d only seen from the ground.

The serenity paired with the physicality of the class brought me to a level perspective not often achieved by myself, let alone that early in the morning.

Though as a first-time yoga participant, audible breathing, positions with names like downward dog and the sitar soundtrack playing softly in the background did elicit a (mostly) silent chuckle to myself.

More shocking was the amount of physical skill that yoga requires.

It’s a fact I became critically aware of as my arms began shaking under me during what are considered fairly basic positions.

When we ended the session, the morning now fully under way with people dressed for work walking through the mall—as full as the Fulton Mall can be anyhow—I felt something that I hadn’t felt during morning in a long time. I felt refreshed and relaxed.

As a person who vehemently despises mornings, consider this a ringing endorsement.

As the sun rose over the Central Valley on Friday, I stretched, refreshed and woke up my body like any other morning.

But instead of being sleepy and alone in bed, I was up in one of Downtown Fresno’s high-rise buildings doing group yoga.

Originally, the class’s 7 a.m. start scared me. And sure, by the time it’s 9 a.m., the demand for coffee is stronger than usual.

But starting the occasional day with early-morning yoga will forever be more rewarding than making

the otherwise lazy decision to stay in bed for an extra hour.

As someone who enjoys yoga and has past experience, I know I’ll always enjoy a class for its refreshing, meditating qualities.

While I’ve taken other classes that offered smoother sequences and a wider variety of positions, during this lesson it wasn’t the routine that captured me, but rather the opportunity to see Fresno from a new perspective.

The romanticism of watching a sunrise from one of Fresno’s higher vantage points— the Pacific Southwest Building—is guaranteed to please anyone.

How could it not?

In dawn’s transition, the sky was nothing but soft colors evolving over the city in what could only be described as a charismatic start to the day.

Being that it was too early in spring to enjoy a class outside on the rooftop, we instead performed the yoga in an empty office space on the sixth floor.

While the vacancy reminded me of Downtown Fresno’s abandonment, it offered an unusual, yet calming feeling of tranquility.

In a former time, office workers would be beginning to arrive at the building for a day behind desks and cubicles (some were still left deserted).

But instead, we newcomers joined a small group of regulars in laying out our mats to begin our weekend with an hour of relaxation.

As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens.

From clothing to jewelry, Misc.

Trading Co. hosted a Vintage Pop-Up shop event for aficionados to find their favorite items on Saturday in front of Warnors Theatre.

Alvaro Romero, who started Misc.

Trading Co. two years ago, said collecting vintage items has always been a passion.

“I’ve been collecting since I was like 15,” Romero said. “I’ve always been interested in well-made things; things that have interesting qualities or design.”

Romero said he hopes the event invigorates interest in Downtown Fresno and attracts vintage enthusiasts.

“I want to bring more people Downtown,” Romero said. “I really want to be part of growing the vintage community or people who are interested in vintage. I want to bring not only people who are interested in

vintage items, but people who don’t know Downtown Fresno and who haven’t had a chance to explore it.”

Romero’s goal for the event was to invite a variety of fellow vintage collectors who represented the boutique’s name—miscellaneous.

“Clothing, jewelry, furniture and artwork,” Romero said. “The name of the shop is miscellaneous, so I’ve invited people with all sorts of things.”

The event had an array of items ranging from typewriters to paintings, birdcages, bags and hats to an old Fresno Bee newspaper featuring President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Andy Doris, a vintage vendor, said this is the second time he’s been part of this event, and he enjoys that it brings people together.

“It’s neat, and it’s kind of spontaneous,” Doris said. “Everybody gets out here, and it brings people down to this area for the permanent stores here. It’s a good outlet for me and the things that I have.”

Jose Perez, a vintage collector and seller, said he hopes the event fuels the passions for vintage stores.

“I think it’s great,” Perez said. “I think there should be more vintage shops like this, pop-up shops. It’s really getting big right now. It’s already big in the bigger cities. Vintage is the new thing.”

Veronica Stumpf, an enthusiast, said she was eager to attend the event after hearing last month’s event was so successful. Stumpf said the thrill of finding rare items is one of the reasons she enjoys vintage shopping.

“What appeals to me about vintage is that the styles are very classic, and it’s very timeless,” Stumpf said.

“And it’s fun searching through all the piles of clothes and finding something that’s one of a kind and nobody else has.”

Romero said he hopes to grow the event and do it on a monthly basis starting in September.

I have involvement experience as a Mock Trial team captain and as a member of the pre-law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta. I am involved in the greek system as the treasurer of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and I believe that as an ASI senator I can use my experience to help further the representation of students at Fresno State.

Gage Marchini

Discovery. Diversity. Distinction. These three words stand as the cornerstones of Fresno State, and are representative of my journey here at this university. In the pursuit of discovery, I became a student with varied interests as an Agriculture Business and Economics double major with law school in my sights. The diversity of my academic interests led me to involve myself in many different clubs and organizations, including Phi Alpha Delta, JCAST Leadership, Mock Trial and Alpha Zeta. From these organizations, I have found distinction in a variety of ways, such as the attorney awards I have won competing in Mock Trial on behalf of Fresno State. Taking the opportunities of this university, I have found discovery, diversity and distinction and, as an ASI senator I will harbor these values and work –on behalf of my fellow peers -- to protect them so as to help Fresno State students in their academic journey.

I am extremely involved in the Greek system at Fresno State. I am proud to be the current president of my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma and was previously the vice president of standards. If I am elected as an ASI senator, I will dedicate my time to ensuring the students’ voices are heard.

I believe that I am a good candidate for senator at large. I have two and a half years of experience in ASI including serving as a senator in 2012-13.

From my experience, I know first-hand the problems that ASI faces: involvement, recognition and delegation. It is always an uphill battle when trying to recruit new members. I believe that we can lead by example and show students on campus what an honor it is to be a part of the governing body. In my term, I hope to help continue ASI’s commitment to community revitalization. I plan to further involve students on campus in helping put on a fundraiser for the Bulldog Pantry 1 and 2. I also hope to improve the social environment on campus. Being a part of ASI would help me in attracting popular entertainment to campus.

Maria Ramirez

I am the current education chair for the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority here on campus, and I am running for Senator-at-large in hopes to use my skills to benefit you, the students. If elected for office, I plan to help increase communication between students and the campus by decreasing student apathy and increasing “Bulldog pride.” I want to ensure that every student’s voice is heard on campus, within the local community and state of California. Lastly, I want to encourage the alumni and surrounding community to get involved in the movement to help increase the amount of job and internship opportunities for students. One of my favorite phrases happens to be, “Enter good.

Exit better.” It is my hope to be a part of making our campus better for you, the student.

I’m a proud member of both Fresno State Mock Trial and Delta Gamma Sorority. As a senator, I will act as a voice of effective change for the Fresno State student body and the Greek community. I plan to develop a clear channel of communications for my constituents on campus, and represent their concerns in a way that will improve their collegiate experience. As a liaison between Fresno State and the Greek System, I hope to foster a greater sense of community and increase involvement amongst my peers in events held by both organizations. I’ve served in multiple director and vice president positions within my sorority and Mock Trial, so I can help develop a more accessible connection and positive relationship between these two communities.

Memorial nears approval from Campus Planning Committee, completion planned to coincide with Genocide’s 100th anniversy

A committee including members of Fresno State’s Armenian studies program and the Armenian Genocide Centennial Committee of Fresno, hope to have the final approval to build an Armenian Genocide memorial to coincide with the event’s 100th anniversary next year.

The committee hopes to have the proposed memorial signed off by the Campus Planning Committee in its April meeting, which will kick off a yearlong planning and construction process believed to yield the nation’s first Armenian Genocide memorial on a college campus, said Barlow der Mugrdechian, coordinator of the Armenian studies program.

The memorial, which der Mugrdechian said will be fully funded through private donations, is planned to be completed by the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide – April 24, 2015.

“It will be a place that will stand out – a place

people will want to come to visit to pay their respects,” der Mugrdechian said.

The memorial, which will commemorate the 1915 genocide of the Ottoman Armenians, will be built in the Maple Mall, the area on campus that includes the Satellite Student Union, Conley Art Building and the Joyal Administration Building.

The memorial will be a “circular footprint.”

Early designs show the memorial – approximately 30 feet in diameter and 30 feet wide – as ringshaped with nine pylons made out of stone.

The foundation for the memorial’s design has been finalized, der Mugrdechian said, who has approached university president Joseph Castro, the Campus Planning Committee and Associated Students, Inc. about the memorial.

The purpose of the memorial, an idea years in the making, is to commemorate the genocide and create awareness about genocides, der Mugrdechian said.

“The reactions have been very positive, very encouraging,” he said. “People understood the concept of the idea and the purpose behind it, and I think they support it.”

“It was good to see us rebound from [Friday],” said Fresno State head coach Trisha Ford. “Offensively we came ready to go. We had great at-bats up and down the lineup and took advantage of a lot of hitters’ counts.”

The Broncos get even On Sunday, the Broncos brought the offense and won the finale of the 3-game set 8-1.

Boise State’s Ashley Palmer smacked a 2-run home run to center field, scoring Tara Glover in the bottom of the first inning. Glover would knock in two runs of her own in the second inning with a double to right-center field.

The Bulldogs’ lone run came in the

I thought we were able to compete as far as rebounding goes and how physicality can sometimes impact that. But [Nebraska] still outrebounded us by 11.

“I don’t think we got good looks at the rim, and when we did we didn’t convert.”

Jordan Hooper and Emily Cady had double doubles for Nebraska. Hooper had 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Cady scored 15 and tallied 11 boards.

“We went to a squeeze defense that squeezed the dribbler and stuff like that, so I think that really helped,” Hooper said.

“Containment was a little bit better.”

Fresno State finishes the season at a record of 22-11.

The Fresno State softball team dropped two of three to the Boise State Broncos, but not without an offensive explosion.

The second game of the 3-game stretch was a 24-4 beating by the Bulldogs that ended mercifully in the fifth inning.

In that contest, the Bulldogs set a school record for runs in an inning with 13 in the first. Boise State’s Mackenzie McGill pitched three innings and allowed 19 runs.

Every player in the Fresno State starting

lineup had a base hit. Four Bulldogs homered, and seven had extra-base hits.

Fresno State center fielder Brenna Moss began the game with a leadoff single, then stole second base. When Brooke Ortiz stepped up to the plate to lay down a sacrifice bunt, Boise State’s Makenna Weir threw the ball to the first-base dugout. Moss and Ortiz scored on the error.

Third baseman Vonnie Martin slugged her second-career grand slam in the first inning for her fourth home run of the season.

“We talked about playing the sport the way we know we can,” Martin said. “We all love the game and went out today and played for

each other. I tried to clear my mind and swing at the pitches that I could hit and not at bad ones, and it worked out in my favor.”

After Martin’s slam, Michelle Solomon reached on a throwing error. Stesha Brazil then stepped up to the plate and crushed a 2-run home run to left field, her team-high sixth of the year.

The remaining five runs of the inning were off singles by Moss, Kapri Angotti and Paige Gumz, a bases-loaded walk to Megan Megee and a Whitney Smith fielder’s choice play to short.

’Dogs season comes to a close

Fresno State loses first-round match to Nebraska

LOS ANGELES — The Fresno State women’s basketball team fell to 0-7 alltime in the NCAA Tournament with a firstround loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 74-55 at the Pauley Pavilion.

“I’m really proud of our team,” said Fresno State head coach Raegan Pebley, “how they prepared, the mentality they came into this game with and definitely the fight that they showed.”

Fresno State guard Taylor Thompson had 14 points and nine rebounds in the game. Four Bulldogs – Bree Farley, junior guard Alex Furr, forward Alex Sheedy and sophomore Moriah Faulk – added eight points apiece.

For seniors Thompson and Farley, the loss isn’t something that will define their careers, Pebley said. Instead, it will be their impact, influence and the difference they have made in their time at Fresno State.

“Our staff just feels so blessed to have coached them over the years,” Pebley said.

The game began with the Bulldogs and Huskers sticking close to each other. With the game tied at 8, both teams played tight defense and prevented another basket for the next 3:15. During that stretch, Fresno State missed six shot attempts and Nebraska missed five.

Despite poor shooting in the first half, Fresno State increased its drive to the basket in the second to total 35.6 percent.

Nebraska, on the other hand, remained consistent: 35.5 percent in the first and 38.2 percent in the second to end the game with a 36.8 shooting percentage.

“Coach talks all the time about how this is a game of runs,” Thompson said. “They got a run; we went on a run. They’re a really good team, and some of our shots just didn’t fall. I was really proud of our effort overall.”

The Fresno State baseball team’s trip to Omaha, Neb., ended with zeroes in the win column as it lost both games to the Creighton University Bluejays.

The series, originally scheduled to be three games, had its second match canceled due to inclement weather.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs and Bluejays resumed play, but an error-filled second inning gave Creighton the series sweep.

In the bottom of the second inning, Creighton first baseman Reagan Fowler singled and advanced to second base on a fielding error. After Brett Murray struck out, Joey Mancuso singled up the middle, but a throwing error by Fresno State pitcher Tim Borst plated Fowler. Ryan Fitzgerald’s single scored Mancuso, but a throwing error at first brought Mitchell home.

All three runs in the frame were unearned, as they were the result of fielding errors.

The Bulldogs struck in the fifth inning when a Jordan Luplow double to left center field scored Chris Mariscal.

Creighton answered in the bottom of the frame with a Mike Gerber double that scored Jake Peter.

Fresno State center fielder Brody Russell’s single in the sixth inning scored Manny Argomaniz, but the Bluejays added two – one that was from a wild pitch – to hold off Fresno State and secure the sweep.

In Game 1, the Bulldogs scored in the top of the fourth off a sacrifice fly by left fielder Jake Stone. In the bottom half of the stanza, the Bluejays answered back in similar fashion, a sacrifice fly out by Murray.

Fowler’s single up the middle scored Mike Gerber to give the Bluejays the game-winning run.

The Bulldogs will return home to face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
