Being a creative individual meant that I was immediately drawn to the creative tasks within our teams’ roles, so I jumped straight into the opportunity to design the save the date and the invitation for the launch night. On reflection, I really enjoyed this task as it was creative, and I feel as though I was able to apply that creative touch to the design of it. Working within my team, I communicated with them to discuss details for the save the date and invitation to see if there were any details, they felt would be important to add, and Jess suggested including a bit of information regarding a drink upon arrival, so I included that. Aswell as the save the date and invitation, I was also asked to design a separate, more personalized invitation for the VC and although I kept it mainly the same, I thought that it would look good if I made some adjustments to make it more special. Overall, I think the rebrand colours worked well and made the invites look more cohesive, and I am very pleased with the outcome of them.
INVITATION DESIGNER
Upon reflection of my second KPI which was the guest list, I felt that how I organized the guest list was very efficient and made it a lot easier for me to keep track of everyone that had been invited, and the numbers for guests that people wanted to bring. Being in charge of the guest list was a very straightforward task and I was in constant communication with Charlotte, to work out numbers based on who she had invited. I felt that we worked really well together and our communication made it much easier for me to put the guest list together. Overall, as I said, organizing the guest list was a very straightforward task and I am pleased that we were able to maintain the number in attendance to below 100.
GUEST LIST
For my final KPI, I took on the responsibility of promoting the launch night. As mentioned in the 1200 word business plan, I researched different types of promotional material before diving into creating each promotional message. When doing this research, I brainstormed and mind mapped some ideas for the type of promotion I could use and I found that I had quite a lot of options, but as mentioned before, I thought email marketing would be the best solution, as from my research, the main benefit is that it is a good way of reaching your desired audience and connecting with them, to keep them in the know and to keep the launch night on their minds so that they don’t forget. Overall, I am very pleased with the outcomes of the promotional material I have created as I felt that they were relevant and directed to the audience. For example, the first material I created that gave directions to car parks and the launch night venue, I thought was an important follow on from the invitations for helping out guests who aren’t familiar with Chester.
PROMOTION ASSISTANT
As an added extra for my KPI as the promotion assistant, I took on the exciting opportunity of creating a croquis of each student for the little miss awards. This was by far my favourite KPI as it was a fun and creative task. On reflection, I think that I did really well in getting each croquis to capture each students personality, but most importantly, I have reached the desired outcome for it as I had wanted it to be something that each student can laugh at when they see it on the night, and something they can take away with them as a keepsake. With regards to finalising the outcome, I didn’t really face any obstacles, however, when looking at getting them printed, I struggled to find cheap printing methods, so I conversed with my team and Jess suggested Free Prints, which turned out to be the best option and when the prints arrived, I was very happy with how they looked.
PROMOTION ASSISTANT
CONCLUSION
To conclude my reflection, I am very happy with the KPIs that I decided to take on, and the outcome for each one has been very positive overall. I thought that although the team I was placed in was more marketing based, I was able to find myself and delve into the more creative aspects within our team roles which made my experience that much better as I am naturally more of a creative person. Despite this team being more marketing based, I wouldn’t have wanted to be placed in any other team as I was really pleased to have been placed with the other girls in team 2, and I thought we worked incredibly well together, our communication was strong, and I think we really pulled together and have helped each other where need be.
