One of the biggest things to learn is that when you want to succeed in making a succesful platform, you can’t just post a photo or write a tweet and hope that it trends or grabs your followers attention. You need to find your personal algorithm using your platform insights! Let me guess, you’re thinking, but whats an algorithm? An algorithm is a way of sorting posts in a users’ feed based on relevancy instead of publish time. So before, Instagram used to publish your feed in chronological order, but now they’ve sorted it so that you see content that is most relevent to you at the top of your feed. This can be quite damaging as your posts could get lost if your content isn’t seen as relevent to your audience, but that’s why it is important to watch your insights and find your own personal algorithms. Each social media platform now allows you to access the insights and analytics of your accounts using either external apps or ones that already exist within the social media app. This allows you to really knuckle down on who your target audience is and how to reach them efficiently.

Hashtags. A lot of people find it a lot of effort to include hashtags in each and every post but let me tell you now, these ARE worth your time. Hashtags are just another door that could expose your content to new followers. Platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook allow you to search for certain hashtags. Therefore, the more hastags you use within your posts, the wider an audience you will reach. The maximum number of hashtags you can use differs between platforms but make sure you are using these hashtags to your advantage!

Adding a location to your content works in exactly the same way as a hashtag. Each social media app allows you to search for different locations.

It can be quite draining replying to each and every comment or direct message you recieve across each platform you have. But don’t ignore these !! Followers gain a much larger interest in your brand/business when they feel like they have a personal connection with you and can trust you as an individual.

We urge you to add a location to every post. Even if it was just typed out from home, make it up and say the location of your post is London! All this does is add another location for your content to be found by new followers.
