ABOUT OSRAM

Creating the future of light with OSRAM

The lighting market is going through a period of technological change, with semiconductor-based technologies such as LEDs and OLEDs presenting customers with new possibilities in terms of efficiency, quality of light and flexibility. As a premium supplier, OSRAM is playing a leading role here. For more than 100 years, the trademark OSRAM stands for innovative and sustainable developments in the global lighting market. Today, OSRAM is one of the world’s largest suppliers of products and solutions for a wide range of customer requirements – from lamps and LED modules to luminaires and high-efficiency light management systems.

34

OSRAM focuses all its resources on the subject of light, actively supporting its customers in making the best choices to meet their individual requirements. With more than 40000 employees in around 150 countries, OSRAM develops tailor-made solutions to cover the specific needs of its customers.

ABOUT OSRAM

Passion for light, solutions for life. Change is written into our DNA. OSRAM develops intelligent and sustainable products to help conserve resources worldwide and to improve the quality of life through light. Artificial lighting is responsible for around 20 percent of worldwide power consumption. This means that highly energy-efficient lighting can save as much CO2 worldwide as can be absorbed by a forest twice the size of Italy. At present, more than 70 percent of our turnover comes from energy-saving lighting solutions. LED technology is already a crucial factor here. LED-based products now account for around 25 percent of OSRAM’s total sales. OSRAM covers the entire LED value-added chain, from components to light management solutions. And with around 8000 LED patents, OSRAM has a considerable influence on the further development of LED technologies. As a “pure light player”, OSRAM is a strong global brand, and as a leading innovator in all application and technology sectors it is shaping the digital future of the lighting industry. Fiscal Year 2011 (ended September 30, 2011)

INTRODUCTION

Work in the office is subject to progressive change, driven on by rapid development in information technologies. Trendsetting office concepts therefore contain flexible workplaces that can be used for variable times and in various locations. The use of PCs as the central working companion for many employees has become the standard. This creates a series of specific requirements for lack of glare, flexibility and illuminance in modern office lighting concepts. In addition to the standard requirements, there are insights and solution concepts for the use of adequate lighting to exert significant positive influence on the well-being of the people and the productivity of their work. OSRAM offers the right solution for each of these requirements, whether we are concerned with individual components or innovative luminaires. All we do is light. And light is all we do.

LIGHT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The right light, in the right amount, at the right time, in the right location. Thanks to modern light management.

54 54

The right light reduces energy consumption, promotes well-being and increases productivity. In addition to the technical and architectural aspects of light planning, light management systems (LMS) therefore play an important role in the holistic approach to lighting design. Energy savings thanks to innovative control equipment and sensors, daylight-dependent control systems, dynamic RGB and white light applications or manual selection of individual lighting scenes – all this is possible with light management systems from OSRAM, and much more. Whether integrated into luminaires or as an independent system, our light management solutions are always adapted to the specific requirements of the particular area of application.

LIGHT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

OSRAM offers professional light management systems for lighting in industry, shops, hospitality, offices, streets and even for architainment lighting. ENCELIUM – the complete light management system at building level – allows you to achieve maximum energy savings, short payback times and considerable improvements in workplace lighting. When applied with user-friendly 3D software and freelyaddressable switching and dimming functions, ENCELIUM generates optimal light quality at any time and in any location, without using more energy than necessary. Thanks to the combination of daylight and presence sensors, a variable load distribution and the presetting of the lighting level and operating time, energy savings of up to 75 % can be achieved. For this purpose, ENCELIUM can be integrated into the existing building management system. e:cue light management systems are the best choice if you wish to implement comprehensive LED-based architainment lighting. As the leading manufacturer for the realization of high-quality and dynamic lighting solutions, they ensure that all lighting projects are presented professionally. Street Light Control (SLC) is the perfect light management system for street lighting. SLC allows the regulation of individual light points and the programming of need-based lighting scenarios. Targeted demand-oriented lighting control can significantly lower energy consumption by up to 40 % per year. Moreover, CO2 emission and light pollution can also be reduced correspondingly. Central monitoring and analysis of the system leads to the optimization of maintenance planning and a reduction in the associated costs. In addition, traffic safety is increased because the level of lighting is adapted to the actual requirements.

55
