Karl Lagerfeld | Antwerp Belgium Having opened concept stores in Paris, Berlin and Shanghai, Karl Lagerfeld’s first Belgian concept store has opened its doors in Antwerp. The entirety of the 138 square metre store bears all the hallmarks of the famed Karl Lagerfeld style. The store, which was designed by the interior designer firm Plajer + Franz and Different by design architect Ilse van Loo, is notable for its minimalistic design, strongly contrasting colours, forms and surfaces, as well as a mix of classic and contemporary elements.

The store’s glass and mirror surfaces interspersed with matte surfaces, combined with the right lighting, lend the store the desired multi-dimensionality, while the interplay of light and perspectives creates subtle trompe l’oeil effects. The ceiling features lighting channels that are an integral part of the spatial geometry. The sophisticated lighting design is based on id entity® track lights, whose different beam angles and variously deployed sculpture lenses create the desired lighting effects. 35 watt HIT, 4,200 K spots with a colour rendering index (CRI) exceeding 90 were used.

PKZ | Biel Switzerland PKZ is one of Switzerland’s leading men’s fashion houses, with 35 stores at top locations throughout the country. Thanks to a recent renovation, the PKZ store in Biel now has an exciting new look.

Thanks to its parquet floors, light and modern design and harmonious fittings, combined with energy efficient LED lighting, the store is now far more consistent with the needs of today’s customers. This optimal ambience contains Marc O’Polo and Paul Kehl shop-in-shop boutiques. In designing the space, particular attention was paid to merchandise lighting and presentation, via an overall concept that was elaborated by Umdasch Shopfitting AG in partnership with RZB’s store lighting experts. Thanks to the use of Calido® EVO LED track lighting and Heledon® LED downlights from RZB, the store’s high-end men’s fashions are now optimally presented.

MEXX | St-Denijs-Westrem Belgium Since 2010, the fashion retailer Mexx has been committed to a top to bottom brand relaunch, which is echoed in particular by the company’s new store design. The new MEXX stores are illuminated theatrical backdrops. By manipulating various light levels and strong chiaroscuro effects, MEXX manages to establish a dramatic atmosphere in its stores.

In its St-Denijs-Westrem store, in Belgium, which was designed by Different by design architect Ilse van Loo, MEXX installed for the first time solely LED luminaires. The compact Pura spotlights, which are made of high-quality diecast aluminium and are equipped with a passive cooling system, are notable for their excellent colour rendering, outstanding colour trueness and extremely low glare. With its luminous flux of up to 4,000 lumens, this spotlight does not only provide high LOR values, but is also energy efficient. Likewise decisive factors in Mexx’s decision to opt for Pura Spot S Maxi LED and Pura Spot R Maxi LED spotlights were their quality, versatility and design.

Wilsmann-Anziehbar | Rietberg Germany The renovation of the 120 year old building on Westerwieher Strasse in Rietberg has restored the structure to its former glory. The former restaurant is now home of the venerable Wilsmann family business, Wilsmann-Anziehbar.

In terms of lighting, the Wilsmanns opted for RZB´s Calido® EVO HIT track lighting, which is an eminently versatile solution. Calido, whose fixtures each accommodate a 35 watt bulb in a powder-coated die-cast aluminium housing, provides atmospheric lighting for the store’s design detailing, and of course its merchandise. The black and white Calido® EVO track lighting models are a perfect compliment to the store’s atmosphere – or that of any store for that matter. Thanks to the installation friendly bayonet socket, the light sources and reflectors with 16°, 34° or 70° beam angles can be replaced without tools. An extensive selection of colour and UV filters is also available for RZB’s Calido® EVO-series.

BML Store | Moscow Russia The BML store at Moscow’s Capitol Shopping Center specializes in classy men’s suits that are notable for their superb fabrics and elegant styling. The top-quality materials, subdued colour scheme, and precisely accentuating lighting of the store’s decor underscore the exclusiveness of this German brand.

The lighting designers from the Trinova interior design firm opted for RZB´s Pura Spot S and R Midi spotlights. These versatile recessed and track-mounted, 70 W HIT fixtures show off the store’s goods to optimum effect. The matte-black track lights are arranged in such a way that shoppers are led through the store’s retail areas. The focus of these luminaires can be varied thanks to their 12, 23 and 44 degree beam angles. Four reflector options, various light source options, and various filter options enable the Pura Spot S and R solutions to work wonders in just about any store setting.

Schuh Mücke | Bamberg Germany A new branch of the shoe retailer Mücke opened near Bamberg, Germany. The Mücke store carries more than 500 leading shoe and fashion brands, which are displayed on a 6,000 square meter surface.

And the new store's nearly 2,000 Pura Spot S Midi track lights show the various shoe models to optimum effect.What’s more: thanks to the luminaire’s bayonet sockets, the spotlights’ light sources can be replaced without the use of tools a fact that allows Mücke to save time and money. The centrally placed square-shaped Econe® Hybrid lighting fixtures make shopping at the new Mücke outlet both a thrilling and pleasant experience. These large-surface LED luminaires, which provide dynamic coloured light controlled by RZB’s light control +3, guide customers along the main aisles of the store. This magnificent retail store lighting solution is enhanced by nine Ring of fire® pendant luminaires, which are mounted above the main cash desk. These unique masterpieces of modern industrial craftsmanship feature handblown opal glass and an aluminum retaining ring.

Caligula | Meran Italy Boutique shoe stores are alive and well! In an increasingly globalized and uniform world, it’s comforting to know that boutique shoe stores are still very much with us, are aware of their strengths and confidently invest in their future. One such store, called CALIGULA, is located in the renowned arcades of the South Tirol spa resort town of Meran. Having recently undergone a complete facelift, the store looks terrific and sprightly, thanks to a lighting design that shows the space to best advantage.

The shoes are displayed at a suitable distance from each other on “floating” glass surfaces. Particularly exquisite models are placed jewelry-like in glass display cases, along with matching accessories. Other noteworthy features of the store’s design are its wide spiral staircase, tilted full-length mirrors, generously proportioned seating, and deftly arranged tables and pedestals. This harmonious arrangement is magnificently illuminated by RZB’s Magcardo® spotlight and the recessed Pura Spot R Midi, which is fitted with 35 watt HIT lamps.

Maryling | Milan Italy The Maryling flagship store is located next to the Armani Megastore in Milan. Founded in 2010, Maryling’s international style is notable for its modern silhouettes that pay homage to femininity – an approach that is strongly reflected by Maryling’s exclusive store design.

id entity® and Pura Spot R spots, along with recessed Heledon® LED downlights, provide optimal lighting for the store’s high end merchandise. The recessed Ledona® LED downlights used in the store meet the highest lighting technology, energy efficiency and design standards. These highly versatile, passively cooled LED downlights are available in three different sizes, in a round or square format, with luminous flux values ranging up to 4,000 lm. Thanks to their compactness, Ledona® luminaires are also ideal for installation in shallow recesses. The luminaire’s innovative reflector is based on ground-breaking technology involving four segments and an integrated light mixing chamber, allowing for outstanding luminous flow, harmonious lighting and extremely low glare. Pharmacieplus | Colombier Switzerland Pharmacieplus is a network of more than 100 family owned Swiss pharmacies, which provide the highest quality pharmaceutical care and pharmaceutical services to all their customers. The Pharmacieplus pharmacies operate under a logo comprising a green cross with a circle around it.

RZB outfitted the Pharmacieplus pharmacy in Columbier, Switzerland with energy efficient LED luminaires, whose extremely low heat dissipation allows sensitive products such as cosmetics to be lit to optimal effect. The pharmacy opted for Magcardo® Maxi LED and Rondos DS LED recessed spots, as well as Pascala® LED downlights, which integrate innovative Miro Silver reflectors. RZB’s large Flatliner luminaires in customized Pharmacieplus green accentuate the corporate design of Pharmacieplus, delineate the counter area, and promote brand recognition.

Stadtapotheke Pharmacy | Mosbach Germany The family-owned Stadtapotheke pharmacy in Mosbach, Germany was established in 1710. For a recent renovation, in 2013, the pharmacy’s proprietor Ute Hess and the shopfitter Gütler-Einrichtungen decided to use only LED lighting in the space.

The flat recessed Parledo® LED luminaires provide uniform general lighting, thanks to luminous flux values amounting to 3,900 lm. When used in conjunction with RZB’s light control +3 lighting management solution, dynamic lighting with colour temperatures ranging from 2,700 to 6,500 K can be programmed. These dimmable luminaires, which are available with opal or micro-prismatic covers, can be integrated into ceiling systems or can be used as computer workstation lighting. The combination of Parledo® luminaires and recessed Pura Spot R Maxi LED spots enables Stadtapotheke pharmacy to illuminate its extensive selection of products with completely up to date and visually appealing energy efficient lighting.

Sun Store | Romanel Switzerland Sun Store has been Switzerland’s leading pharmacy chain for more than four decades, with more than 100 stores employing more than 1,600 persons. Sun Stores carry a wide selection of pharamceutical products, naturalhealing products, and food and dietic products. Each store also has a Privilège beauty product boutique.

Energy efficiency, along with product quality and customer service, has become one of the top priorities for Sun Store, which since 2013 has been outfitting all of its new stores solely with LED lighting fixtures. For example, the company has long since adopted minimalistic Edo 2 LED luminaires for escape routes and GSUN® S LED luminaires for exit signs as a standard solution for all of its stores. Sun Store’s new store at Romanel shopping mall uses Calido® EVO LED spotlights for accent lighting and Pascala® LED recessed downlights. Thanks to the Pascala®’s Miro-Silver-Reflectors, which are made using a process patented by RZB, this lighting fixture provides a light output ratio exceeding 90 percent. Brillen Rottler Eyewear | Sundern Germany In 1946 Paul Rottler founded the eyewear company Brillen Rottler, a small business that was the first eyewear manufacturer in Neheim, Germany. Today, with 31 stores, Rottler is one of Germany’s largest family owned eyewear companies.

The company’s Sundern outlet was renovated in 2012 by the interior design company Aktiv Design GmbH. Rottler has always prided itself on the quality of its products, and on a philosophy that places the uniqueness of each customer front and center. This philosophy is reflected by the decor of the company’s stores – including of course their lighting design, which at the Sundern store features mouth blown opal-glass Douala® luminaires. These pendant-mounted LED luminaires, which have won a number of product-design awards, provide velvety, glare-free accent lighting. The store’s background lighting is provided by Calido® and Magcardo® HIT projectors. Our pivotable Magcardo® recessed spotlights have bayonet sockets, thus allowing for tool-free lamp replacement. Decorative frames and modular inserts are likewise easy to install, via magnets.

Gepp’s | Regensburg Germany The motto of the fine-foods retailer Gepp’s in Regensburg Arcaden is “mouth open, eyes shut.” Gepp's carries a broad range of packaged and prepared foods, and customers can sample many of the latter at the store – which prides itself on providing customers with helpful advice in their quest for culinary nirvana or a facsimile thereof.

The store’s proprietor, Dr. Alexander Gepp, says he needs to feel a personal connection to the products he sells. He places great importance on the quality of the ingredients in the products he sells. As much as possible, he avoids carrying products containing preservatives. Gepp’s take on food is reflected by the design of his store, which features high quality materials, restrained colours, and the congenial lighting design created by RZB using Pura Spot S Maxi spotlights. All of these elements encourage customers to sample foods at the store. A particularly eye-catching element of the RZB lighting design are the Flatliner pendant mounted luminaires with the background-lit Gepp’s logo. The chintz shades can be imprinted individually and are available in 75 colours, thus making it extremely simple to incorporate the Flatliner into any colour and spatial concept.

The Cube | Hamburg Germany The Cube is a café and restaurant located in the Galerie der Gegenwart (contemporary art) of the Kunsthalle museum in Hamburg. The Cube, whose inviting dining room comfortably seats 80, was designed by the Lüneburg-based interior design company formwaende. The combination of the spectacular view of Binnenalster Lake and The Cube’s innovative crossover cuisine attracts large numbers of patrons at dinnertime.

RZB’s light control +3 Professional system allows for professional management of The Cube’s entire lighting system in a manner that creates an optimal atmosphere. The system’s touch panel allows the user to call up various preset configurations that range from bright-as-day dimmed light to atmospheric candlelight. Fleischerei Steffen’s butcher shop | Kiel Germany The Steffen family has been farming and making smoked meats the old fashioned way in a smokehouse since 1650, using top quality ingredients. The same holds true for the fresh salads and other foods that the family sells in its new store called Steffen’s on Holtenauer Strasse in Kiel. The store is lit using modern, energy efficient LED luminaires, in the guise of Pura Spot R Maxi LED recessed spots which integrate special meat filters that provide just the right lighting. But of course when it comes to lighting food, apart from having the right light intensity it’s also essential that the right colour temperature be used. Unduly high illuminance levels bleach the colour out of the food prematurely, while the wrong colour temperature makes the food look unnatural. LeBuffet | Düsseldorf Germany Forget all you’ve heard about department store restaurants, for LeBuffet is a completely new kind of restaurant, which offers the shoppers at Karstadt’s department store in Düsseldorf live cooking demonstrations and fascinating products in a modern ambience. LeBuffet carries an impressively huge selection of fresh food from all over the world.

The red chintz lampshades of RZB’s pendant mounted Flatliner luminaires - in a customized 1,400 mm diameter - create a warm and cosy atmosphere in this restaurant. The architects from SODA GmbH and JARD Design’s lighting designers arranged these XXL luminaires, which are fitted with 9 watt LEDs, in the middle above the large solid wood tables. Flatliner luminaires provide glare-free and homogenous light for the restaurant’s dining area. The Flatliner is available as a suspended or surface mounted luminaire in a cylindrical, square or truncated cone form and in diameters ranging from 550 mm to 1100 mm.

OBI | Nuremberg Germany Having opened its first store in 1970 in Hamburg, the German DIY chain OBI is now the German market leader and one of Europe’s top DIY chains, with more than 340 stores in Germany.

OBI gives priority to energy efficiency in fitting out its new store in Nuremberg, and to this end opted for pendant mounted Ralite® Highbay LED downlights, which replace all high-pressure discharge lamp systems with a solution that uses up to 68 percent less energy. Thanks to this luminaires’s replaceable LED lamps and unique reflector technology, luminous flux levels of up to 26,800 lm are achievable. RZB Lightstream® LED floodlights provide optimal exterior lighting for the store. This recently launched product, which is available in Mini, Midi and Maxi sizes, is an optimal replacement for up to 400 watt conventional halogen floodlights and for metal-halide projectors. These luminaires use up to 81 percent less energy than conventional solutions.

Mini Brugge Store | Brugge Belgium The Mini is the direct descendant of the classic car that was developed by Sir Alec Issigonis in 1959 and that was produced until 2000. The new incarnation of the Mini is built to strict quality standards at the BMW plant in Oxford, England and is sold by a network of independent Mini dealerships in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The Mini Brugge store in Brugge, Belgium is outfitted with RZB Golas® recessed spots and Calido® track lighting. The Golas® luminaires illuminate the trendy Minis with a 46 degree beam angle. The housings and bezel rings of these 70 watt spots are made of anthracite-coloured powder-coated aluminium, while the spherical housing can be rotated 355 degrees and pivoted 60 degrees. The black walls and ceilings, which are the salient features in the Mini store decor, create a kind of backdrop for the cars. Into this backdrop are seamlessly integrated RZB’s black Calido® track lights in matt finish, whose 70 watt HIT lamps can be replaced without the use of tools, thanks to the luminaire’s bayonet sockets.

Donauzentrum | Vienna Austria The Donauzentrum shopping mall features over 200 retail shops, service providers, and restaurants. The facility is readily accessible via Vienna’s public transport network and offers a contemporary shopping experience to its customers. Donauzentrum and the attached Donauplex entertainment centre attract up to 55,000 visitors a day.

The Donauzentrum shopping mall is impressively illuminated by a large number of pendant mounted Flat Polymero® luminaires. With its eight series, comprising wall and ceiling luminaires, our Flat system is one of the most extensive luminaire series on the market today. Seven different sizes ranging from 300 to 1,700 mm open up myriads of design opportunities. RGB versions and dynamic circadian lighting systems also allow for extensive individualisation.
