This zine looks back at the Black Power movement from the 1960s-70s with the context of the 2020 Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. It was a result of a class about (re)making history: taking into account how history was/is portrayed, particularly Black history, in the United States, and the power that comes with (re)telling history. We compare and contrast how much has changed since the 60s and what remains same. For example, we pay attention to how current state violence against BLM protests is reminiscent of government suppression of the Black liberation movement through COINTELPRO.
