KEVIN O.P.
Hello from Boston! We are Kevin and O.P.. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We are so excited to welcome a child into our family. Kevin’s cousin and O.P.’s grandfather were both adopted. This has given us a glimpse into the difficult choices that you face. We cannot imagine the courage it takes to consider all of your options, but we are thinking of you and hope we can be part of your journey. All the best, Kevin & O.P.

ABOUT
We met in 2007 when we were both starting new jobs at the same hospital. We started chatting during a coffee break at our new employee orientation, and we immediately hit it off! We soon became inseparable, and as we learned more about each other, we discovered that we shared many interests and values. We both enjoy traveling as a way to broaden our horizons. Recent trips have taken us to Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, the Arctic, Nova Scotia, Colorado, Kansas, and California. Spending time in the outdoors is also one of our favorite activities. Living in Boston, we are close to the mountains and the ocean, and we get out of the city whenever we can. Most importantly, we both believe in the importance of a home filled with love and warmth. Everyone is welcome at our dinner table, and we spend many evenings talking and laughing with friends and family. We are thrilled to welcome a child into our home. We will offer the child unconditional love and our full support in pursuing his or her dreams. We also hope to share the excitement of traveling the world, learning about new cultures, and experiencing nature.

ABOUT BY O.P.
KEVIN
Kevin is the most genuine and loving person you will ever meet; he’s funny, smart, silly, thoughtful, dedicated, and diligent. Kevin grew up in a small town in Kansas. He went to college in Missouri, spent a year in Germany teaching English, and then returned to Missouri for medical school. He is now an infectious diseases doctor, treating patients with HIV, hepatitis, and all sorts of other infections. Kevin and our friend Brigid after finishing a half marathon.
Kevin cares deeply about others. As a doctor, he has spent time treating patients in Haiti and Rwanda, as well as homeless people in Boston. At home, he does a thousand small things to show that he cares: whipping together a warm meal after I have had a long day at work, listening to what’s weighing on my mind, or even feeding the cat extra treats! It is easy to be yourself around Kevin, because he is so openminded and easy-going. Kevin is very thoughtful. His favorite hobby is running; when he runs, he likes to reflect on life and ponder philosophical questions. He often shares these questions over dinner, which keeps our conversations stimulating. Kevin is a fantastic uncle to our nieces and nephews. He is not afraid to play silly games to make them laugh, but he can also be serious and be a good advisor — like when he helped my oldest niece Amanda apply to college.

Kevin’s loving and caring nature will make him a great dad!
ABOUT BY KEVIN
O.P.
“Everybody loves O.P.” is a common phrase that our friends and I use to describe O.P.. We like to say it partly because it makes him blush, but also because it’s true! O.P. is the gentlest, friendliest, most cheerful, and most loving person I know. He always has a smile on his face, even when he’s asleep. Everyone – from little kids, to adults, to pets – is attracted to him immediately. That’s why it’s all the more amazing that he’s also a brilliant doctor who has devoted his life to helping sick patients. O.P.’s real name is Ole-Petter, but when he moved to America, it quickly became “O.P.”. He’s originally from a small town in Norway, a country at the northernmost tip of Europe. O.P. moved to France and then Ireland before coming to Boston. Even though he hasn’t lived in Norway for a few years, he still enjoys many Norwegian activities, like skiing, hiking, and picking berries. He also likes to bake Norwegian desserts and then invite friends over to enjoy them. O.P. hopes to teach our child his native language, Norwegian.

I know O.P. will be a fantastic dad. He’s already had some practice being an uncle to his six nieces and nephews.

We are fortunate to have loving and open-minded friends and family. Kevin’s parents live in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains. They are very excited for their first grandchild, and Kevin’s mom has already started making clothes for the baby. Kevin also has a sister who lives in Georgia; she can’t wait to welcome her new niece or nephew.

O.P.’s family still lives in Norway, all within a 30-minute drive of each other. He’s the baby of the family, with three siblings who are seven, nine, and thirteen years older than him. O.P. also has six nieces and nephews of all ages who are really excited to have a little cousin!

We love to travel with our friends Rob and Tia. Here we are at the opera in Budapest.
Our friends are spread all over the world. Wherever we travel, we meet up with friends who live there — but we also have a lot of friends in the United States. Many of our friends in Boston just had babies and are looking forward to when we have a child so that we can have play dates.
Minerva loves to sleep on the porch in summer.
We also have a furry friend – our cat, Minerva. We adopted her after we had been dating for one year, and she is the most affectionate cat we have ever had. She loves to sit next to us on the couch or sit on a chair to watch us eat dinner.
Our home has a lovely dining room that we use whether we have guests or it’s just the two of us for dinner.
In the evenings, we love to sit on the couch at home and snuggle with Minerva.
Kevin likes to grill on the porch in the summer.
We live in a leafy Boston neighborhood. It’s a diverse area with people from all backgrounds. Within a few minutes from our home, there are beautiful parks and ponds, playgrounds, schools, and lots of friends. We also have a garden filled with vegetables and flowers.

LIFE, FUN TRADITIONS Having dinner together every night is important to us. It’s when we sit down to talk about the day’s events, about what’s happening in the world, and about our plans together. Cooking is one of our favorite pastimes; nearly every weekend, we have friends over for dinner and conversation. We also love holiday traditions. Our favorite holiday is Christmas, which we spend with our families each year, alternating between Norway and the United States. Decorating the Christmas tree is a family experience that we look forward to sharing with our child! Kevin making salsa on vacation in Mexico.
