Read about Homecoming 2011 inside!
Many of us attended classes in outreach programs and did not have the same opportunities to develop a sense of school spirit. But, it is nice recognize the progress of our University and to feel proud about its improvements and success.
Did you know, for example, that Friends University has undergone major renovation projects to expand and improve the athletic facilities? A state-of-the-art Sportexe Momentum 46 brand turf system for the football and soccer programs was installed in the winter of 2006. This field is in Friends University’s Adair-Austin Stadium, and contains a “Eurotan S” Sandwich Track surface system, which is one of the best grades of track available. Included as part of the Falcon athletic facilities are the Garvey P.E. Center and the Forrest C. Lattner Tennis Courts. Also, Falcon pride exists in knowing that the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football Coaches’ Active Wins List ranks Friends University Football Head Coach Monty Lewis 6th on the list with a record of 118-55 as of Aug. 11, 2011. Friends University hopes that you take a moment to review the information included
with this newsletter to make sure that your information is correct in their records. Oct. 1, 2011, is Homecoming and please bring your motorcycle or classic car and join the parade. Or consider having your children submit their entries in the coloring contest for a opportunity to win a Crayola® Color Wonder Sound Studio. See the latest issue of the Focus magazine for the entry form. Please join Mitch McVicker, G’95, nationally known Christian recording artist and Friends University alumnus, Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at the Wichita campus for a concert with proceeds going toward student scholarships. For more information about Mitch, visit his website at www.mitchmcvicker.com. Sadly, we have lost one of our CIS classmates. James L. Moore, G’94, died July 31, 2011. Mr. Moore formerly worked for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Emporia State University, and served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. Send me an email and let me know what’s new with you. Professional accomplishments, personal achievements - anything you want me to share with our fellow CIS alumni.
