Read about Homecoming 2011 inside!

I hope this newsletter finds each of you well and progressing in your healthcare leadership careers. Congratulations to Malea Gonzalez, G’06/M’08, who was awarded a scholarship from the Kansas Hospital Association Healthcare scholarship program. Malea is pursuing a Master in Public Health degree. Interested in attending an upcoming athletics or fine arts event? Athletic game dates and times can be found online at www.friendsathletics.com and the Fine Arts Performance and Exhibit Calendar can be found at www.friends.edu/performanceexhibit-calendar. Homecoming will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 (more information on page 3). You are welcome to bring your motorcycle or car out to ride in the parade, join other alumni as they sing the national anthem prior to the football game or even have your children send in their coloring contest entries to win a Crayola® Color Wonder Sound Studio. (Entry forms can be found in the latest issue of Focus, the Friends University magazine.) With the help of the Wichita Alumni Advisory Board, nationally known Christian

recording artist and Friends University alumnus, Mitch McVicker, G’95, will perform a concert on campus Friday, Oct. 21, with proceeds going toward student scholarships. You can purchase tickets by contacting the Alumni Office at alumni@friends.edu or 1-800-794-6945 ext. 5900. General admission is $12; VIP tickets are $20. As alumni, we have many opportunities to be involved in developing healthcare leaders, and to participate in the many events that occur at Friends throughout the year. I encourage you to visit www.friends.edu/ alumni-friends. At this site, you will find a link for volunteer opportunities. Among the options is the Campus Connection class agent, which allows a MHCL graduate to keep fellow alumni informed via this newsletter. I would encourage anyone who would be interested in this to contact me as I am moving to Texas to take on a new role as the associate director of the West Texas VA Health Care System. Let’s make this newsletter a valuable source of information for current and future MHCL alumni.
